Agronomic performance and genetic divergence between genotypes of Manihot esculenta

Abstract: The morphoagronomic characterization of 12 genotypes of M. esculenta was performed during the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 crop years. The 12 genotypes were planted in a randomized block design, with four replicates per genotype. Number of tuberous roots per plant, weight of tuberous roots, root yield, total plant weight, harvest index, plant height, height of first branch, number of shoots, stem diameter, number of buds, leaf dry weight and petiole length were evaluated. Genotypes "Camuquem" and "Goiás" were the m… Show more

“…The average height of the first branch was 2.69 m, with the genotype EMCB-32 showing the higher height (2.76 m) and the genotype EMCB-27 the lowest (0.07 m). These average results are superior when compared to research carried out by Giles et al (2018), evaluating 12 genotypes of M. esculenta in the state of Espírito Santo-Brasil, in which the average was 0.89 m.…”

“…Manihot esculenta, Cranzt, commonly called cassava [8], manioc, yuca, macaxeira, mandioca, aipim, and agbeli, is a woody shrub of the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae is extensively cultivated as an annual crop in Republic of Congo for its edible starchy tuberous root and all other derived products [9]. This plant represents nearly 80% of local consumption [1].…”
