In recent years, questionings on the behavior of genotypes in different environments are frequent, especially those seeking to disclose the commercial and nutritional value of soybean genotypes. Consequently, this study – which is linked to the IRC Soybean Breeding Program located in Campos Borges, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil – sought to analyze the physiological and nutritional aspects of S5 Soybean Segregating Families. Research design consisted of complete randomized blocks containing 40 soybean genotypes arranged in four repetitions, corresponding to F5 generation genotypes tested in 2018/2019. This generation was obtained via artificial hybridizations of F1s plants carried out in 2014/2015, F2s in 2015/2016, F3 segregating families in 2016/2017 and F4 in 2017/2018. Traits were evaluated by a statistical model, verifying normality and homogeneity of variances. Behavioral explanation of the F5 Soybean Segregating Families was calculated using analysis of variance, grouping of means, and linear and canonical correlation. Analysis of variance showed a significant difference (p <0.01) for all variables, indicating the existence of genetic variability. F5 Segregating Families IRC8_130 and IRC31_102 show promising results in breeding programs involving physiological and nutritional aspects. Crude protein, crude fiber, first pod insertion height, plant height and number of pods with 4 grains, are dominant and determining characteristics for establishing segregating generations, and can be used in breeding programs.

ABSTRACT.Estimating genotype x environment (GxE) parameters for quality and yield in soybean seed grown in different environments in Minas Gerais State was the goal of this study, as well as to evaluate interaction effects of GxE for soybean seeds yield and quality. Seeds were produced in three locations in Minas Gerais State (Lavras, Inconfidentes, and Patos de Minas) in 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons. Field experiments were conducted in randomized blocks in a factorial 17 x 6 (GxE), and three replications. Seed yield and quality were evaluated for germination in substrates paper and sand, seedling emergence, speed emergency index, mechanical damage by sodium hypochlorite, electrical conductivity, speed aging, vigor and viability of seeds by tetrazolium test in laboratory using completely randomized design. Quadratic component genotypic, GXE variance component, genotype determination coefficient, genetic variation coefficient and environmental variation coefficient were estimated using the Genes software. Percentage analysis of genotypes contribution, environments and genotype x environment interaction were conducted by sites combination two by two and three sites combination, using the R software. Considering genotypes selection of broad adaptation, TMG 1179 RR, CD 2737 RR, and CD 237 RR associated better yield performance at high physical and physiological potential of seed. Environmental effect was more expressive for most of the characters related to soybean seed quality. GxE interaction effects were expressive though genotypes did not present coincidental behavior in different environments.

Currently, there are several methods for adaptability and stability analyses, which are distinguished according to the adopted concepts of stability and statistical principles. This study aimed to compare the adaptability and stability methods of Eberhart and Russell (1966), Cruz et al. (1989), and Lin and Binns (1988 modified by Carneiro (1998), besides to select soybean cultivars with high adaptability, stability, and grain yield. Ten trials of the competition were carried out with fifteen soybean cultivars during 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 crop seasons. The method of Lin and Binns (1988) modified by Carneiro (1998), stands out for recommendation of soybean cultivars, as it combines productivity, stability and adaptability for genotype classification, being an easy to interpret method.
