Research Article Estimates of genetics and phenotypics parameters for the yield and quality of soybean seeds.

Abstract: ABSTRACT.Estimating genotype x environment (GxE) parameters for quality and yield in soybean seed grown in different environments in Minas Gerais State was the goal of this study, as well as to evaluate interaction effects of GxE for soybean seeds yield and quality. Seeds were produced in three locations in Minas Gerais State (Lavras, Inconfidentes, and Patos de Minas) in 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons. Field experiments were conducted in randomized blocks in a factorial 17 x 6 (GxE), and three replications. Seed… Show more

“…The knowledge of genetic parameters is of great importance for breeders, since it helps them to determine the best breeding method for the crop (Cruz, Carneiro, & Regazzi, 2004). Several studies have been conducted to estimate genetic parameters for soybean crops (Costa et al, 2008;Leite, Pavan, Matos Filho, Alcantara Neto, Oliveira, & Feitosa, 2016;Santos, Spehar, Capone, & Pereira, 2018;Vasconcelos, Reis, Sediyama, & Cruz, 2012;Zambiazzi et al, 2017) and specifically with characters under the vegetative stages (Charles et al, 2017;Matsuo et al, 2012;Nogueira et al, 2008;Silva et al, 2016). Another genetic aspect of great value for plant breeding, which should get special attention from breeders, is the correlations between characters estimates.…”

“…Portanto, é importante que os genótipos sejam avaliados em diferentes localidades e safras para se ter maior confiabilidade na seleção dos genótipos. Quando os genótipos são avaliados em diversos locais, o efeito dos ambientes e genótipos x ambientes é estimado com maior precisão e, consequentemente, a contribuição do efeito genético para a variação fenotípica é mais preciso (ZAMBIAZZI et al 2017).…”

“…This can be explained from the fact that grain yield is a quantitative trait controlled by a large number of genes and, hence, it is highly affected by the environment. However, other traits, such as first pod height, plant height, days to full maturity, and lodging index, show less influence from environmental factors due to their simpler inheritance (Ramalho et al 2012, Zambiazzi et al 2017, Gesteira et al 2018.…”

“…It was expected that the gain would decrease as the number of selected individuals increased, but that did not occur in some situations (Table 3). This can be explained from the occurrence of the genotype × environment interaction throughout the experiments/generations evaluated (Zambiazzi et al 2017). Furthermore, the estimates Table 2.…”
