Genetic parameters estimate and characters analysis in phenotypic phase of soybean during two evaluation periods

Abstract: Recent studies have shown the need to identify new potential additional descriptors for the soybean culture to contribute to cultivars differentiation. Thus, the objective of this study was to estimate generic parameters and analyze characters in the soybean plants in phenotypical phase, during two evaluation periods. The study analyzed 28 genotypes under greenhouse conditions, during two evaluation periods (October and December, 2017), in two stages of development (V2 and V3), regarding hypocotyl and epicotyl… Show more

“…The magnitudes of the coefficients of variation obtained in Experiment 1 and 2 were 7.96% and 7.35%, respectively, and they corroborate with those obtained by Nogueira et al (2008), Matsuo, Sediyama, Cruz, Oliveira andCadore (2012a) and lower than those obtained by Silva et al (2016), Chaves et al (2017), Camargos et al (2019 and Hanyu et al (2020).…”

“…According to Vasconcelos-Neto, Borém and Portugal (2005) the distinction of cultivars is performed by a minimum margin of specific descriptors and, according to Nogueira et al (2008), these descriptors are still insufficient to distinguish cultivars, which makes evident the need to expand the list of descriptors that were used. Among the various characters, epicotyl length has stood out as a potential additional descriptor for soybean culture (Silva et al, 2016;Hanyu, Ferreira, Cecon, & Matsuo, 2020).…”

“…Soybean is one of the main crops of agriculture, with a relevant socioeconomic role, with Brazil being the second largest world producer of oilseeds. In the 2018/2019 harvest, the crop occupied an area of 35.8 million hectares in the country, with a 1.9% increase in planted area compared to the previous harvest, with an estimated production of 114.4 million tons of grains (Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento [CONAB], 2019;Hanyu, Costa, Cecon, & Matsuo, 2020;Soares, Sediyama, & Matsuo, 2020;Ferreira et al, 2020;Frota et al, 2020;Carvalho et al, 2021).…”

“…Soybean is the crop with main grain exportation in Brazil. The 2017/2018 crop season revealed a production of 118 million tons of grains and a cultivated area of 35 million hectares (Matsumoto et al, 2017Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento [CONAB], 2018Frota et al, 2020;Ferreira et al, 2020;Hanyu, Costa, Cecon, & Matsuo, 2020;Soares, Sediyama, & Matsuo, 2020), being surpassed only by United States. The evolution of production and yield of soybean is linked to the insertion of RR event (Roundup Ready) being destined to the control of weeds in no-till sowing system (Nepomuceno, Varela, Alves, & Martins, 2012).…”
