A survey of model-driven techniques and tools for cyber-physical systems

Abstract: Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) have emerged as a potential enabling technology to handle the challenges in social and economic sustainable development. Since it was proposed in 2006, intensive research has been conducted, showing that the construction of a CPS is a hard and complex engineering process due to the nature of integrating a large number of heterogeneous subsystems. Among other approaches to dealing with the complex design issues, model-driven design of CPSs has shown its advantages. In this review p… Show more

“…The identified tools from the collected studies are illustrated along with their CPS domain in Table 7. Different tools are used in different domains according to their need/requirement to handle uncertainty in CPS 61 . Some of the tools are simulation tools and some of these are modeling tools.…”

“…From exiting tools, the model driven languages/techniques can be consider to be useful are those compatible for the heterogeneous nature of CPS and not be specified for one domain. In a conducted survey by Liu and et al [48], they compared ten different tools and showed among them, the Ptolemy and the Ptolemy/CyPhySim can cope with CPS challenges. The selected assessment criteria were some of the CPS modelling requirements including heterogeneous modelling, time, concurrency, system evaluation and meeting diverse Quality of Services (QoS).…”

“…The multi-attribute approach can also be used in this case. The procedure characterized above can be continued with successive sub-models of successive activities [1,2,[20][21][22][23][24][25][26]. New consecutive links that make real sense can be created.…”
