A Novel Trust Evaluation Process for Secure Localization Using a Decentralized Blockchain in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: In this research paper, blockchain-based trust management model is proposed to enhance trust relationship among beacon nodes and to eradicate malicious nodes in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). This composite trust evaluation involves behavioral-based trust as well as data-based trust. Various metrics such as closeness, honesty, intimacy and frequency of interaction are taken into account to compute behavioral-based trust of beacon nodes. Further, the composite (behavior and data) trust value of each beacon no… Show more

“…Also, peer-topeer communication is permitted in a quicker route via the assistance of the distributed ledger, as displayed in Figure 3. The information flow pattern in BWSNs is dissimilar from sheer WSNs [88], whereby the distributed ledgers do not allow wrong authentications or misinterpretation in the information in the former. With the integration of blockchain in WSNs, information flow becomes safer and more trustworthy.…”

“…Moreover, Telecare medical information system also used ECC mechanism for preserving the anonymity of the user and it is found to be suitable in cryptography [38]. Even to secure the localization the same trust base mechanism is used in wireless sensors network which is based on decentralization [44].…”

“…Motivated by the research gaps in the literature in terms of security and privacy as explained above, in this paper, we propose a blockchain-based smart parking system with privacy preservation and reputation management. In recent years, a promising blockchain technology with advantages of decentralization, security and transparency has been used in different applications, such as intelligent transportation systems [22], [23], eHealth systems [24], smart grids [25], human resource record management [26], wireless sensor networks [27], etc. Creating a blockchain network from the parking lots to manage the parking service could tackle the previously mentioned security issues as follows.…”
