Objective To assess agreement between two meal quality indexes adapted for elderly people, evidencing their similarities and differences Methods Agreement study with 322 institutionalized elderly individuals. Food consumption data were collected by the method of weighted food record, in two nonconsecutive days. The Meal Quality Index and the Main Meal Quality Index of each older adult were calculated for the lunch meal. Agreement between methods was tested by cross-classification in quartiles and weighted kappa (Kw), and the difference between medians by the Wilcoxon test. Results The Meal Quality Index median was 54.67 points and the Main Meal Quality Index 53.51 points (p=0.723). When the components of each index were assessed, those associated to the consumption of carbohydrates, total fat and saturated fat were similar. The consumption of fruits separated from vegetables in the Main MealQuality Index evidenced low consumption of vegetables by the elderly. Cross-classification by quartiles showed good agreement; the exact one being 48.8% and the disagreement 3.4% (Kw=0,447). The proportion of elderlyindividuals in the same exact or adjacent quartile was greater than 85.0%. Agreement was higher in males (89.4%, Kw=0.475); in the age range of 70 to 79 years (91.1%; Kw=0.562) and in non-profit nursing homes(96.7%; Kw=0.622). Conclusion The two indexes reviewed show a good agreement between them and common characteristics. The number of components is higher in the MMQI and may represent a more detailed assessment of meal quality.

Introduction: The Food Consumption Frequency Questionnaire (FCFQ) is a tool for assessing food consumption. However, to be used in pregnant women, it must be submitted to validation. The food consumption of pregnant women can impact on maternal and child health, becoming a public health issue. The questionnaire applied during pregnancy can create parameters for better prenatal care. Objective: To validate a FCFQ for pregnant women attended at primary health care units. Methods: The Food Consumption Frequency Questionnaire and two 24-hour recall were applied to 155 pregnant women from the municipality of Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The questionnaire results were contrasted with the average of the two 24- hour recall using the chi-square test. The mean of the differences were estimated by limits of agreement. Pearson's correlation test and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient as well were used. Food consumption medians and quartiles were calculated. Results: The value of estimate energy consumption and most nutrients was higher by the questionnaire. The concordance between the methods in the classification in quartiles of consumption was variable, being similar for 26.11% and opposite for 12.1%. After adjusting for energy, the correlation coefficient ranged from -0.144 (carbohydrate) to 0.337 (potassium). The questionnaire estimated values were approximately 1.94 higher than the 24 hour recall, corresponding to 20% higher for almost all nutrients. Conclusion: The FCFQ showed to be a good instrument to be considered clinically as well as for research purposes in Brazilian pregnant women, this tool measures appropriately food intake which is fundamental for establishing health conditions during pregnancy, helping to assess the association between diet, nutrition and health..

ResumoO presente estudo avaliou a adesão de gestantes ao suplemento de ácido fólico no Programa de Saúde da Família -PSF "Estevão Alves do Vale" do município de Dom Expedito Lopes-PI. A gravidez é uma fase da vida da mulher, onde o corpo passa por diversas transformações incluindo mudanças hormonais, químicas, físicas e principalmente nutricionais, com o aumento das necessidades de nutrientes, para sua própria manutenção e garantia do desenvolvimento normal do feto. Estas mudanças deixam a mulher susceptível a inúmeras deficiências e intercorrências nutricionais, que podem trazer consequências negativas para sua saúde e de seu feto. O ácido fólico é um destes micronutrientes de grande importância na gestação, contribuindo para formação e desenvolvimento fetal, principalmente no desenvolvimento do sistema nervoso central e periférico. Órgãos nacionais e internacionais de saúde indicam a suplementação com ácido fólico, que deverá acontecer principalmente antes da concepção. A não adesão ao suplemento de ácido fólico pode estar ligada a diferentes fatores, as quais iram determinar o uso ou não do mesmo. Estudo transversal, conduzido com 13 gestantes, total de atendimentos, do Programa da Saúde da Família "Estevão Alves do Vale" em Dom Expedito Lopes-PI, Brasil, no período de a janeiro a maio de 2015. A avaliação do uso do suplemento de ácido fólico foi realizada a partir dos questionários aplicados com as gestantes e pelas informações obtidas nos prontuários. A tabulação de dados e a análise estatística foram realizadas no Programa Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), versão 19.0. A média de idade das gestantes foi de 20,61±2,1 anos, variando de 15 a 38 anos. De acordo com a faixa etária das gestantes, as mesmas eram distribuídas nas faixas de 15 a 16 anos e 24 a 28 anos em iguais percentuais 38,45%. Em relação ao estado civil, 53,85% eram solteiras, em se tratando da escolaridade, a maior parte das mulheres tinham ensino médio completo (38,46%). No tocante à renda familiar não ultrapassava dois salários (92,31%), na maioria das gestantes analisadas. Sobre o uso de ácido fólico, disponibilizado pelo PSF, 61,53% usavam, 23% referiu que iniciou o uso, mas pararam, e 15,38% que não usaram. O estudo evidenciou que a introdução do suplemento realizado tardiamente durante a gestação, levando as gestantes e seus bebês, correrem riscos de ter agravos nutricionais no período gestacional e a ter problemas permanentes nos fetos, em decorrência da falta de ácido
