A contribution to the study of stand degradation process on the territory of Fruska Gora National Park

Abstract: We analyzed the process of stand degradation of individual forest ecosystems in the region of the zonal community Tilio-Carpino-Qurcetum robori-cerris Jov. 79 located in the western part of Fruska Gora National Park. Degradation occurred is consequence to regeneration felling and it progressed towards the extinction of oaks, first of all the valuable pedunculate oak and Vergilius's oak, and then also Turkey oak. “…A similar process of regressive succession was previously determined in the area of National park "Fruška Gora" in the wider belt of mixed oak forests, where the regenerative potential of silver lime was neglected in the process of stand regeneration by means of clear cutting and shelterwood system. Within the previously well-regenerated stands with oaks, a manifestation of regressive succession occurred so silver lime dominated stands were formed, mostly of vegetative origin (Bobinac, Radulović, 1997, Bobinac, 2003b. In the area of the National park "Fruška Gora", coppice stands were represented in over 80% of the area, with lime forests as the most represented species with a volume share of 37% (2002).…”
