A comparison of the effects of agricultural pesticide uses on peripheral nerve conduction in China

Abstract: Evidence on the adverse effects of agricultural pesticide use by farmers under the actual field conditions on their peripheral nerve conduction in China is limited. This study was to investigate the association of agricultural pesticide use with the abnormalities of farmers’ peripheral nerve conduction based on two rounds of conventional nerve conduction studies. The level of pesticide exposure was assessed by measuring total amount of pesticides used by farmers in 2012. The logistic and negative binomial regr… Show more

“…Moreover, pesticide use has also been considered responsible for agricultural non‐point source pollution worldwide, especially in developing areas . Besides these negative effects, massive use of chemical pesticides also impairs human health in two ways: through exposure to different types of pesticides and through pesticide residues present in food …”

“…Because silkworm is very sensitive to pesticides, the improper use of pesticides will have adverse effects on silkworm growth and development, and even cause the death of silkworm (Ji et al 2008). In addition, the application of pesticides will also generate adverse environmental consequences (Zhang et al 2018). Therefore, it is not feasible to use agrochemicals in mulberry orchards, and many researchers are committed to breed resistant varieties to defend mulberry from diseases (Khurana and Checker 2011).…”

“…A Canadian study (13) showed that the use auto motors as accidents. In this sense, the literature points that agricultural accidents, regardless of the product of the activity, were mainly related to the use of pesticides/ agrochemicals (29)(30) . Although this study did not address issues related to the use of pesticides, other research conducted in China found that the use of these products on crops, such as lettuce crops, associated with the use of sharp instruments such as knives, machetes and sickles, can cause, among other effects, the reduction of muscle strength and marching instability, which favors accidents related to cuts, falls and fractures (27) .…”
