Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the protective effects of N-acetyl cysteine on the pancreas and kidney after pancreatic ischemia reperfusion injury in a rat model.METHODS AND MATERIALS:Pancreatic ischemia reperfusion was performed in Wistar rats for 1 hour. Revascularization was achieved followed by 4 h of reperfusion. A total of 24 animals were divided into four groups: Group 1: sham; Group 2: pancreatic ischemia reperfusion without treatment; Group 3: pancreatic ischemia reperfusion plus N-acetyl cysteine intravenousl… Show more

“…Our result concerning the effect of n-acetyl cysteine on the urea and creatinine was in harmony with (Efrati et al, 2003), they proved the reno-protective effect of n-acetyl cysteine. They reduced the level of urea and creatinine in the same context (Junior et al, 2010) showed the shielding effect of n-acetyl cysteine on the kidney was attributed to its direct antioxidant capacity (Shimizu et al, 2005). In our experiment, Serum MDA and NO were substantially increased in GA3 treated rats.…”
