Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is a very important crop for Brazil, and especially for Chapada do Parecis which is the largest domestic producer, because of its climate and soil conditions are adequate to the development of the specie. The performance of cultivars and sunflower seed sowing periods were evaluated in Central Brazil. Experimental design comprised an 8 x 5 factorial randomized complete block, with eight sunflower cultivars (Aguará 06, Aguará 04, MG 305, CF 101, SYN 3950HO, SYN 045, GNZ NEON and HELIO 251) and five decennial seeding periods, with three replicates. Analysis of variance and Scott-Knott´s test (p<0.05) were applied. Cultivars GNZ NEON and SYN 045 provide the highest production rates in achenes, with higher value in favor of GNZ NEON. SYN 3950HO (this with higher value), CF101, MG 305, SYN 045 and Aguará 04 gets the highest oil rates in the achenes, with SYN 045, GNZ NEON, Aguará 04, CF101 and SYN 3950HO with the highest oil production. The first seed sowing period is the most productive and the first and fifth periods have the best results for oil productivity. Cultivar GNZ NEON and the first period exceede the others with regard to vegetative and reproductive variables.Index terms: Agronomic characteristics; varietal performance; planting date; Helianthus annuus; plant productivity. RESUMOO girassol (Helianthus annuus L.) é uma cultura de grande importância para o Brasil, e especialmente para Chapada do Parecis, que é o maior produtor nacional, em virtude das suas condições edafoclimáticas serem propicias ao desenvolvimento da espécie. Objetivou-se avaliar o desempenho de cultivares e épocas de semeadura do girassol no Brasil Central. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial 8 x 5, sendo oito cultivares de girassol (Aguará 06, Aguará 04, MG 305, CF 101, SYN 3950HO, SYN 045, NEON e HELIO 251) e cinco épocas decendiais de semeadura, com três repetições. Aplicou-se análise de variância e teste Scott-Knott (p<0,05). As cultivares GNZ NEON e SYN 045 proporcionaram maiores produtividades de aquênios, com valor superior em favor da GNZ NEON. A SYN 3950HO (esta com valor superior), CF101, MG 305, SYN 045 e Aguará 04, obtiveram os maiores teores de óleo nos aquênios. A 1ª época de semeadura foi a mais produtiva, assim como a 1ª e a 5ª épocas apresentaram os melhores resultados para produtividade de óleo. A cultivar GNZ NEON e a 1ª época foram as que se destacaram das demais, tanto para as variáveis vegetativas como para as reprodutivas.Termos para indexação: Características agronômicas; desempenho varietal; períodos de plantio; Helianthus annuus; produtividade vegetal.

RESUMOO objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar a influência de diferentes lâminas de irrigação e arranjos de gotejadores nas características morfofisiológicas de variedades de girassol. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados dispostos em esquema fatorial 2x2x4, considerando duas variedades de girassol (Hélio 251 e Hélio 360), dois arranjos das linhas de gotejo (fileiras simples e fileiras duplas) e quatro lâminas de irrigação (75, 90, 105 e 120% da ETc), com três repetições. Foram avaliados altura, diâmetro do caule, número de folhas, peso do capítulo, peso de mil aquênios, produtividade e respostas fisiológicas das plantas. A partir dos resultados obtidos, foi observado que, no geral, a lâmina correspondente a 100% da ETc proporcionou as melhores respostas para o cultivo das variedades de girassol Hélio 251 e Hélio 360. Considerando a não diferença significativa entre os arranjos das linhas de gotejadores, o de fileiras duplas torna-se o mais viável para o cultivo de girassol, tendo em vista sua maior economia na instalação do sistema de irrigação. O teor de óleo dos aquênios não é influenciado pela disponibilidade de água para as plantas de girassol. 5RESUMO -A cultura do girassol expressiva nos cenários nacional e internacional devido, principalmente, a possibilidade da utilização do óleo na fabricação de biodiesel. O presente trabalho objetivou avaliar os efeitos de arranjos espaciais das plantas sobre as características vegetativas e a produtividade ABSTRACT -Cultivation of the sunflower is becoming increasingly more significant both in the domestic and international markets, mainly due to the possibility of using the oil for the production of biodiesel. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the effects of spatial arrangements of the plants on the vegetative characteristics and productivity of achenes in the Embrapa 122 variety of sunflower at two cultivation sites. The experiments were carried out in the Experimental Area of the Department of Plant Science on the Pici Campus in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, and the on the Vale do Curu Experimental Farm at Pentecost, Ceará, Brazil. Sixteen treatments were evaluated made up of combinations of four row spacings (0.30, 0.50, 0.70 and 0. m) and four planting densities (30,000, 45,000, 60,000 and 75,000 plants ha -1 ) and divided into four randomised blocks. For the vegetative characteristics, the stalk diameter, stem length, leaf number, leaf area and leaf area index were all determined. At the end of the crop cycle the production of achenes was also evaluated. The experiments were analysed jointly in relation to the cultivation site, the data undergoing variance analysis, and the quantitative factors tested by regression using the F-test (p <0.05) to check the fit of the models. The factors studied do not interact on vegetative behaviour and productivity at the same time, the cultivation site being predominant. Intraspecific competition affects the vegetative behaviour of the sunflower. For spatial management of the crop, line spacing may affect productivity of sunflower achenes, depending on the cultivation site.
