Produção de matéria seca e proteína bruta e relação folha/colmo de genótipos de capim-elefante aos 56 dias de rebrota

Abstract: Correspondências devem ser enviadas para: ericozoo1@yahoo.com.br Cameroon presented the largest production of DM, CP, and DDM. There were no significant differences for DM concentration (DM) and leaf/stem ratio (L/S) among the evaluated genotypes. The cluster analyses suggested a group of elephantgrass genotypes with higher DM, CP, and DDM production/ha and other with lower DM, CP, and DDM. Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia

“…Genotype CNPGL 92-79-2 had moderate forage mass that was also not significantly different from that of low-mass genotypes. This contrasts with the results of Lima et al (2007) with this genotype: they reported high forage mass (13.5 kg.ha -1 DM) and digestible dry matter yield (8.06 kg.ha -1 DDM) 56 DAC (days after the standardization cut), similar to the values that they observed for cvs. Cameroon and Mineiro IPEACO.…”

“…Guaçu. These are low values compared to those reported by Lima et al (2007), which ranged from 0.95 in Napier grass to 1.43 in genotype CNPGL 91-25-1 in an experiment with a shorter regrowth period (56 DAC). There were significant differences in number of internodes (P=0.0069), stem diameter (P<0.0001), and canopy height (P=0.005) across Elephant grass genotypes (Table 5).…”

“…has one of the highest production potentials among tropical forages used in intensive grazing, both in terms of forage production and animal performance (Carvalho et al, 2005;Lima et al, 2007). However, problems related to management have hampered its adoption by farmers.…”

“…Trindade et al (2007), while studying Urochloa brizantha, cultivar Marandu, reported that the combination of 95% of light interception for regrowth interruption, associated with post-grazing height of 15 cm, provided greater proportion of leaves in the forage. For elephant grass, several studies have evaluated forage production and canopy structure (Deresz, 2001;Paciullo et al, 2003;Carvalho et al, 2005;Lima et al, 2007), but those involving management strategies based on morphological criteria for defining the defoliation interval are still incipient (Gomide et al, 2011b). Moreover, knowledge of the response of new forage accesses to variation in management represents a breakthrough in the development and future adoption of cultivars.…”
