Palavras-chave: energia dos alimentos, nutrientes digestíveis totais, valor energético Estimates of the Energy Value from Chemical Characteristics of the FeedstuffsABSTRACT -The work was conducted to relate the energy availability with the feedstuffs composition obtained form fast and cheap analysis, due to the importance of nutritive value and to the impossibility to measure the available energy of the feedstuffs by simple lab analysis. This work were carried out at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV) using as a data source all thesis published at the Animal Science Department that contained the energy of the feeds available considering the total digestible nutrients (TDN), and also the chemical and biological analysis of the diets. A data bank was made up using all available results relating by means of regression equations the available energy with the others feedstuffs characteristics to estimate the TDN value. The regression equations showed a positive correlation between the TDN value and digestibility and negative correlation in relation to the fiber content. Since the population characteristics are respected, the regression equations could be used to estimate, with certain accuracy, the TDN values.
Palavras-chave: macroelementos minerais, exigências, raças zebuínas Body Composition and Macrominerals (Ca, P, Mg, Na and K) Requirements of Bulls, from Four Zebu BreedsABSTRACT -The body composition and macrominerals requirements for weight gain of four Zebu breeds (Gyr, Guzera, MochoTabapuã and Nellore) were estimated using 63 bulls averaging 24 months of age and 366 kg initial LW. Sixteen animals from Gir, Guzera e Mocho-Tabapuã breeds and 15 from Nellore breed. Fifteen animals, four animals from Gyr, Guzera and Mocho-Tabapuã breeds and three from Nellore breed, were slaughtered at the beginning of the trial. The remaining animals were distributed into three groups, containing three animals from each breed, which were individually fed a diet containing 50% concentrate as dry matter base, to reach the target live weight of 405, 450 and 500 kg, respectively. Regression of the log the of body composition of macrominerals, on the log of empty body weight (EBW), was fitted to estimate the total body composition of those constituents for any EBW inside the range included in this research (250 to 450 kg). By derivation of those regression, the composition of gain was rejusted. The animals from the four breeds did not differ regarding to body composition of macroelements minerals, as for the net requirements for weight gain. There were decreases in the concentration of the five macrominerals in the EBW and in ...
A relação alantoína e ácido úrico:purinas totais foi de, aproximadamente, 98%, indicando que a concentração de xantina e hipoxantina seria, em torno, de 2%.Palavras-chave: nitrogênio microbiano, novilhos, purinas na urina Microbial Protein Production Obtained by the Urinary Purine Derivatives in SteersABSTRACT -The work was carried out to evaluate the microbial protein production determination by means of the urinary excretion of purine derivatives; to compare the microbial protein production by means of purine base methods and of the urinary excretion of purine derivatives; to determine the microbial protein production on the dry matter intake and percentage of neutral detergent fiber in the diet; and to establish the allantoin: uric acid ratio, in relation to the xanthine and hypoxanthine in the urine. Five experiments were carried out with steers fistulated in the rumen, abomasum and ileum, for simultaneous studies of intake, total and partial nutrient digestion and efficiency of microbial protein synthesis. An experimental 5 x 5 Latin square design, except for the experiment IV (4 x 4), was used. Data were grouped in all the experiments, the ones that involved crossbred animals (I, II and III) and Zebu animals (IV and...
Redução nos níveis de FDN das rações resultou em aumentos lineares do NDT e da digestibilidade aparente total da MS.Palavras-chave: bovinos, concentrado, consumo, digestibilidade Intake and Total and Partial Digestion in F 1 Limousin x Nellore Bulls Fed Diets withFive Levels of Concentrate ABSTRACT -A trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of five dietary concentrate levels on the intake and total and partial apparent digestibility of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), total carbohydrates (CHO), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and non structural carbohydrates (NSC). Five rumen, abomasum and ileum fistulated F 1 Limousin x Nellore bulls were full fed diets containing 25.0, 37.5, 50.0, 62.5, and 75.0% of concentrate and allotted to a 5 x 5 Latin square design. The chromic oxide was used as an external marker to determine the total and partial digestibility. The addition of crescent concentrate amounts to the diet resulted in linear increases in the DM, OM, NCE, CP, EE, and TDN and reductions in NDF intake. The total apparent digestibility of DM, OM, CP, EE, CHO, and NSC linearly increased with the increment of the dietary concentrate levels. The CP apparent digestibility in the small intestine linearly increased as function of the concentrate addition in the diets. The concentrate levels in the diet did not influence the rumen and post-rumen NDF apparent digestibility. The dietary NDF levels reduction resulted on linear increases of NDT and DM total apparent digestibility.
