This study aimed to understand better the experiences of women who consume crack. It is a qualitative research conducted through a semi-structured interview with 16 women registered in the Estratégia de Redução de Danos de Pelotas/RS [Harm Reduction Strategy of Pelotas/RS/Brazil], in 2012. For data analysis, one used the content analysis, in the modality thematic analysis, from the perspective of gender relations. The results were grouped into two categories: prejudice, prostitution and crime situations and family and friends relationships. One identified women labeled by society as criminals who suffer daily with situations of prejudice, for not having a behavior socially and culturally expected for women, such as being docile and fragile. Adverse events during childhood were identified, however, there was a network of solidarity among people who consume this drug. Based on genders, it can be seen the concrete and symbolic organization of these women's social life and the connections of power in gender relations. Descriptors: Drug Users; Crack Cocaine; Women; Gender Identity. Objetivou-se conhecer as vivências de mulheres que consomem crack. Pesquisa qualitativa, realizada por meio de entrevista semiestruturada, com 16 mulheres cadastradas na Estratégia de Redução de Danos de Pelotas, RS, Brasil, em 2012. Para análise dos resultados, utilizou-se a análise de conteúdo, na modalidade análise temática, sob a ótica das relações de gênero. Os resultados foram agrupados em duas categorias: Preconceito, prostituição e situações de criminalidade e Relações familiares e de amizade. Identificaram-se mulheres rotuladas pela sociedade como criminosas e que sofrem com situações de preconceito diariamente, por não apresentarem comportamentos sociais e culturalmente esperados para as mulheres, como sexo dócil e frágil. Eventos desfavoráveis durante a infância foram constatados, no entanto, identificou-se uma rede de solidariedade entre as pessoas que consomem essa droga. A partir do gênero, pode-se perceber a organização concreta e simbólica da vida social dessas mulheres e as conexões de poder nas relações entre os sexos.

Introdução: O envolvimento feminino com as drogas se dá de diferentes maneiras. A maioria das mulheres ainda ocupam posição coadjuvante neste tipo de crime, mas seja qual for a forma de participação, constitui um elemento de vulnerabilidade para essas mulheres. Objetivo: O presente artigo teve como objetivo descrever elementos de vulnerabilidade no envolvimento feminino com drogas. Metodologia: Tratou-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, desenvolvida com onze mulheres de uma penitenciária feminina de Salvador, BA, que cumpriam sentença por infrações relacionadas ao fenômeno das drogas. Para coleta de dados utilizou-se as técnicas de desenho estória-tema e a entrevista semiestruturada, cujo conteúdo foi analisado pela análise de conteúdo temática, norteada pelos princípios da Teoria das Representações Sociais. Resultados: Para as entrevistadas a influência de companheiro e amigos, traumas/revoltas da vida, dificuldades financeiras e a busca de visibilidade e poder foram apontados como elementos de vulnerabilidade para seu envolvimento com as drogas. Conclusão: Os resultados apresentados pelas mulheres em situação de prisãorefletem a condição da mulher num contexto de desigualdades e na busca de visibilidade, cujo consumo de drogas e a participação no narcotráfico se apresentam como estratégias de enfrentamento. Essas estratégias, contudo, ocasionam, dentre outros aspectos, situações de sofrimento para as próprias mulheres e seus familiares.

The aim of this paper is to discuss social and health repercussions in women due to drug use, as disclosed in reports published in magazines with national circulation. This is a qualitative research, with an exploratory and descriptive approach. Articles published in four magazines were used, during six consecutive months as of September of 2009. Fifty-two articles were identified with comments on women and the drug phenomena. The information was addressed by means of thematic content analysis. The reports address the increased consumption of drugs by women, the consumption of drugs to maintain and/or achieve the established sociocultural standards of beauty, with risks for addiction and overdose, and situations resulting from violence towards women living with male drug users. Economical, political, ideological and cultural reflexes for women involved with the drug phenomena could be the cause or consequence of implications in the health of this population.
