Determination of acetylsalicylic acid in tablets with salicylate ion selective electrode in a Batch Injection Analysis system

Show more

“…Addition-recovery tests were satisfactory, with values similar to those obtained using an official method of the British Pharmacopoeia 6 and to the label values. In addition, the reported results demonstrate that the combination of SWV with a BDD electrode is a feasible alternative for the analytical determination of ASA in commercial adult and children tablets without previous hydrolysis of the analyte as required by other methods 6,7,10,11,[15][16][17][18][19][20] or the necessity of expensive apparatus along with time-consuming sample preparations. 13,14 …”

“…This electrode showed a linear response to ASA in the concentration range 4.0 × 10 -3 mol L -1 to 4.0 × 10 -2 mol L -1 , with an analytical frequency of 28 samples h -1 . Fernandes et al 17 used a batch injection analysis (BIA) system for the potentiometric ASA determination in tablets, with a salicylate ion selective electrode. This system showed a linear response to ASA in the concentration range 7.5 × 10 -3 mol L -1 to 7.5 × 10 -2 mol L -1 , with an analytical frequency of 90 samples h -1 .…”

“…A multichannel pipette was utilized for the simultaneous injection of the sample over all the sensors [48]. Selective electrodes were explored for the quantification of salicylate in acetylsalicylic acid in tablets [49] and for mercury quantification [50].…”

“…Applications utilizing potentiometry [3], spectrophotometry [4], fluorimetry [5], thermometry [6] and amperometry [7 ±9] were done in combination with BIA. Voltammetry was most frequently chosen and the potentialities of BIA associated with this technique were well-discussed [8].…”
