Bras. 34(6):562-568, junho 2014 562 RESUMO.-[Avaliação de um modelo para indução de doença periodontal em cães.] Existem vários métodos para indução de doença periodontal em modelos animais, sendo o do defeito ósseo um dos mais descritos. Este estudo objetiva avaliar esse modelo em cães, por análises clínica, radiográfica, tomográfica e histológica, fornecendo assim dados padronizados para trabalhos futuros. Doze cães foram submetidos ao protocolo de indução. Em um primeiro procedimento cirúrgico, um retalho mucoperiosteal foi produzido na face vestibular do terceiro e do quarto dentes pré--molares direitos e foi criado um defeito, expondo a furca e parte das raízes mesial e distal, com as dimensões: 5 mm corono-apical, 5 mm mesio-distal e 3 mm vestíbulo-lingual. O ligamento periodontal e o cemento foram curetados e o defeito foi então preenchido com poliéster de moldagem, que foi removido após 21 dias em um novo procedimento cirúrgico. Exames clínicos e radiográficos foram realizados após as duas cirurgias e antes da coleta dos dentes e tecidos associados para análise tomográfica e histológica. Todos os animais apresentaram exposição de furca grau II em ambos os dentes. O nível clínico de inserção aumentou após a indução. O tamanho do defeito não apresentou alteração nas medidas corono-apical e vestíbulo-lingual, enquanto o tamanho mesio-distal foi significativamente maior que o produzido. This study aimed to evaluate this model, through clinical, radiographic, tomographic and histological analyzes, thus providing standardized data for future regenerative works. Twelve dogs were subjected to the induction protocol. In a first surgical procedure, a mucoperiosteal flap was made on the buccal aspect of the right third and fourth premolars and a defect was produced exposing the furcation and mesial and distal roots, with dimensions: 5mm coronoapical, 5mm mesiodistal, and 3mm buccolingual. Periodontal ligament and cementum were curetted and the defect was filled with molding polyester, which was removed after 21 days on new surgical procedure. Clinical and radiographic examinations were performed after the two surgeries and before the collection of parts for dental tomography and histological analysis. All animals showed grade II furcation exposure in both teeth. Clinical attachment level increased after induction. Defect size did not change for coronoapical and buccolingual measurements, while mesiodistal size was significantly higher than at the time of defect production. Radiographic analysis showed decreased radiopacity and discontinuity of lamina dura in every tooth in the furcation area. RESUMOAvaliação clinico-cirúrgica e radiográfica do biovidro particulado na regeneração do osso alveolar de cães A perda óssea, tanto por traumas quanto por outras afecções, gera uma necessidade cada vez maior do uso de substitutos para este tecido. Este trabalho avaliou o biovidro como substituto ósseo na regeneração do osso alveolar da mandíbula de cães, por meio de análises clínico-cirúrgica e radiográfica. Foram utilizados 28 cães adultos, separados aleatoriamente em dois grupos iguais. Em cada animal, foi criado um defeito ósseo na superfície vestibular do osso alveolar, entre as raízes do dente quarto pré-molar direito. No grupo tratado, o defeito foi imediatamente preenchido com biovidro, enquanto no controle, este permaneceu sem preenchimento. Foram realizadas avaliações clínicas diárias durante uma semana, assim como radiografias logo após a cirurgia e aos oito, 14, 21, 42, 60, 90 e 120 dias do pós-operatório. A maioria dos animais dos dois grupos não apresentou sinais de inflamação e a cicatrização da ferida cirúrgica ocorreu de forma semelhante. O exame radiográfico revelou aumento gradual da radiopacidade na região do defeito no grupo controle. No grupo tratado, observou-se inicialmente radiopacidade superior à do osso adjacente, diminuindo até os 21 dias de pós-operatório, voltando a aumentar gradativamente até os 120 dias do pós-cirúrgico, quando o defeito tornou-se imperceptível. O biovidro é integrado ao tecido ósseo, é biocompatível e diminuiu o período para a completa regeneração óssea. Bone loss, either by trauma or other diseases, generates an increasing need for substitutes of this tissue. This study evaluated Bioglass as a bone substitute in the regeneration of the alveolar bone in mandibles of dogs by clinical, surgical and radiological analysis. Twenty-eight adult dogs were randomly separated into two equal groups. In each animal, a bone defect was created on the vestibular surface of the alveolar bone between the roots of the fourth right premolar tooth. In the treated group, the defect was immediately filled with bioglass, while in the control, it remained unfilled. Clinical evaluations were performed daily for a week, as well as x-rays immediately after surgery and at 8, 14, 21, 42, 60, 90 and 120 days post-operative. Most animals in both groups showed no signs of inflammation and wound healing was similar. Radiographic examination revealed a gradual increase of radiopacity in the region of the defect in the control group. In the treated group, initial radiopacity was higher than that of adjacent bone, decreasing until 21 days after surgery. Then it gradually increased until 120 days after surgery, when the defect became undetectable. To analyze the therapeutic potentials of different hydroxyapatites used for the correction of bone defects in rats. Methods: Forty rats, male, albino wistar, were distributed in 4 groups. They were submitted to a 3.5 mm defect in tibia. They received low purity hydroxyapatite, Strontium hydroxyapatite and hydroxyapatite doped with gallium, having a seven day evaluation time. Histopathology slides were stained with hematoxylin-eosin, for morphological evaluation. Were analyzed inflammatory processes, necrosis, presence of osteoclasts and osteoblasts, presence of the material, presence of white cells, neovascularization and bone neoformation. Results: It was observed that the groups HAPSr and HAPGa, presented better results of trabecular bone, hyaline cartilage and bone marrow more organized. Conclusion: There was improvement in the repair of the bone defect produced, showing that these hydroxyapatites are effective osteoinductive, osteoconductive, osteintegrant agents and have biocompatibility, and may be indicated for use in defect repairs.
