Nitrogen applied in okra under non-tightness grown and residual fertilization

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate, in the Amazonian rainy season, the effect of nitrogen applied in okra under non-tightness grown and residual fertilization. The trial was carried out in the Embrapa Amazonia Ocidental, in Iranduba, Amazonas state, Brazil, between October/2010 and February/2011, in dystrophic Yellow Argisoil, medium texture, using pits with residual fertility. The experimental design was of randomized blocks with four repetitions (two lines with four plants, spacing of 1.5x1.0 m) and four … Show more

“…The treatments each year 2017 and 2018 consisted of: rabbit manure, cow dung, poultry manure, green manure [Mexican sunflower ( Tithonia diversifolia Asteraceae)], pig manure, NPK 15-15-15 fertilizer and a control (no manure/ inorganic fertilizer). Both the organic manures and NPK fertilizer were applied at the rate of 120 kg N ha −1 32 . This was equivalent to 800 kg ha −1 for NPK 15-15-15, 11.9 t ha −1 for rabbit manure, 5.5 t ha −1 for cow dung, 4.1 t ha −1 for poultry, 4.8 t ha −1 for green manure and 5.6 t ha −1 for pig manure.…”

“…The efficiency of N may be related to the fact that this nutrient is a constituent of proteins, which act in the absorption of nutrients by plants, participates in various biological processes, such as photosynthesis, respiration, synthesis in general, multiplication, cellular differentiation; and increase in the production of vegetative and flower gems (Malavolta, 2002;Filgueira, 2008;Cardoso & Berni, 2012).…”

“…Okra responses to mineral and organic fertilization have been observed by several researchers (Oliveira et al, 2007;Omatoso & Shittu, 2007;Abd El-Kader et al, 2010;Cardoso & Berni, 2012). Mineral nutrition of vegetables can influence their development with subsequent effects on quality.…”
