The Brazilian agriculture presents different production systems and a great variation of yield levels as a consequence of the regional inequality. These variations occur mainly because of the lack of technical information and financial support to acquire machinery and equipment used in agriculture. Considering the importance of this information, this study aimed to analyze the mechanization of agricultural properties in the municipality of Dracena/SP. The total number of land holdings in this area is 1,024 and only 149 have wheel tractors; they were classified into groups according to their sizes. Data collection was done through a questionnaire about the characteristics of the production system, mechanization resources, operational cost, and operational intensity. The statistical significance of the experimental data was evaluated by analyses of variance followed by Kruskal Wallis' test (P<0.05). The analysis revealed that the average values of the mechanization index and the farmed area by tractor were, respectively, 2.53 kW/ha and 103.9 ha/tractor. The analysis further revealed that the field operational cost was minimized with the maximization of the effective operational capacity for any area group.

The market of agricultural tractors has an important role in the Brazilian economy, as well as the role the tractor plays in agricultural operations. With the rising level of mechanization, the traffic of tractors on public roads consequently increased, thus raising the propensity of occurring accidents. In transit, tractors present low traveling speed, besides being wider machines in comparison to cars, besides also presenting low visibility to the other drivers who use the roads. The relevance of studies that point the problems related to this type of traffic accident is related to its severity, in order to seek preventive measures. In this context, this study aimed to address the interface of safety components related to lighting and signaling with the avoidance of accidents involving agricultural tractors on public roads. This way, studies show aspects such as: the road speed limit, as well as its type and width; the number of vehicles and agricultural machinery in circulation; safety components; lighting and signaling items, influence and help to draw a characterization of accidents involving farm machinery. Among the types of accidents, collision and overturning are the most common. Even if the number of accidents with tractors is lower in relation to automotive vehicles, the severity of the accidents is greater, with propensity of 5 to 8 times more deaths. Therefore, the correct use of safety components and items of lighting and signaling on tractors, in addition to the compliance with laws and regulations, may contribute to reducing the number of accidents with agricultural machines on public roads.

Alteração do campo visual em função do uso de cabinas em tratores agrícolas

RESUMO:Com o objetivo de avaliar a alteração do campo visual de um trator, ocasionada pela instalação de uma cabina, foram determinadas as áreas de visibilidade nula em função da presença ou não da mesma, para cada campo visual. Os procedimentos adotados basearam-se na norma ISO 5721-1981 -Agricultural tractors -Operator's field of vision. A cabina aumentou em 34,42% a área de visibilidade nula. A relação área de projeção do trator/área total sombreada foi de 0,075 para o trator sem cabina, e 0,057 para o trator com cabina, indicando as melhores condições de visibilidade do primeiro em relação ao segundo. No que se refere aos campos visuais, a maior redução ocorreu no campo visual dos olhos e no obtido com o movimento da cabeça, em função dos suportes da cabina e da estrutura de proteção contra o capotamento. A cabina diminui o campo de visão do operador, e adequações no projeto da estrutura avaliada são necessárias para melhorar as condições de visibilidade. ALTERATION OF THE VISUAL FIELD IN FUNCTION OF THE USE OF CABINS IN AGRICULTURAL TRACTORSABSTRACT: Aiming to evaluate the alteration of the visual field of a tractor occasioned by the installation of a cabin were determined the null visibility areas due to the presence or not of this structure, for each visual field. The procedures adopted were based on ISO 5721-1981 -Agricultural tractors -Operator's field of vision. The cabin increased in 34,42% the area of null visibility. The relationship projection area of tractor/total shadowed area was 0,075 to the tractor without a cabin, and 0,057 for the tractor with cabin, indicating the best conditions of visibility of the first in relation to the second. With respect to the visual area, the largest reduction happened in the eyes visual field and in the obtained with the head movement in function of the cabin supports and the rollover protection structure. The cabin decreases the operator's area of vision, and adjustments in the project of the structure evaluated are necessary to improve the visibility conditions.
