The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of boron foliar application, branch girdling and plant growth regulators on the performance of pear trees cv. Garber. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with three replications. Treatments consisted of different boron rates (220, 440, 660 and 880 mL 100 L-1), branch girdling, and the plant growth regulators Promalin® (benzyladenine + gibberellins AG4+7) (560 mL 100 L-1) and Biozyme * TF (200 mL 100 L-1). The percentage of fruit set, stem length, fruit length, fruit diameter, flesh firmness, soluble solids and yield were assessed. The greatest fruit set was observed with Promalin® in both years and also boron and Biozyme * TF in the second year. The use of Promalin® increased peduncle length, fruit height but negatively affected soluble solids. Yield was also increased by this plant growth regulator and boron. Concluding, Promalin® improves fruit set, yield, and fruit quality and boron positively influence yield.

RESUMOAs diversas tentativas falhas de produção de peras no Brasil são impulsionadas pelo elevado consumo, que apresenta um cenário crescente de importação para atender a demanda interna. Em 2015 foram importadas 179 mil toneladas de peras, sendo a maior parte da Argentina e Portugal. A limitação do cultivo de pereira não tem sido por falta de mercado, mas devido a diversos fatores, como por exemplo, a baixa frutificação efetiva, a insuficiente formação de estruturas de produção e o excesso de crescimento vegetativo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o crescimento vegetativo e frutificação efetiva de pereiras europeias submetidas a diferentes técnicas de redução de vigor. O experimento foi conduzido na safra 2012/2013 e 2013/2014 em um pomar comercial de pereiras localizado no município de Vacaria, RS, situada a 971 m de altitude. As pereiras Packham's Triumph, William's, Red Bartlett, Abate Fetel e Carrick, todas enxertadas sobre o portaenxerto Pyrus calleryana, foram submetidas aos tratamentos de anelamento simples, anelamento duplo, corte de tronco simples, corte de tronco duplo e aplicação do fitorregulador Trinexapac-etil (1600 mg L -1 ). De acordo com os resultados obtidos foi possível observar que houve redução do crescimento vegetativo apenas na cultivar Packham's submetida ao anelamento duplo, corte de tronco simples e Trinexapac-etil. A utilização da técnica de anelamento e corte de tronco incrementa o retorno de floração e também a produtividade das pereiras 'Abate Fetel' e 'Carrick', bem como a aplicação de Trinexapac-etil reduz o retorno de florescimento destas cultivares nas condições do estudo. ABSTRACTThe various failed attempts to produce pears in Brazil are driven by high consumption, which presents a growing scenario of imports to attend to the consumers demand. In 2015, 179 thousand tons of pears were imported, most from Argentina and Portugal. The limitation of pear cultivation has not been due to lack of market, but due to several factors, such as low fruit set, insufficient formation of production structures and excessive vegetative growth. The objective of this work was to evaluate the vegetative growth and fruit set of European pear trees submitted to different growth control techniques. Growth and Yield of the Common Bean in Response to Combined Application of Nitrogen and Paclobutrazol

-Nitrogen fertilization is a common practice used to increase the yield of winter bean crops. However, this practice leads to excessively tall and prostrate plants that have too many leaves, resulting in selfshading, and low yield and grain quality. The use of growth regulators could minimize the undesired effects of nitrogen fertilization. This study aims to determine the optimal concentration of paclobutrazol (PBZ) for inhibiting bean growth using the cultivars BRS Pontal and BRS Supremo. The plants were treated with PBZ at different concentrations, and also in combination with ammonium sulfate ten days after fertilization. The height and yield of plants were evaluated. It was observed that PBZ at 8 mg L -1 effectively inhibits the growth of bean plants, and increases the number of pods and grains. Higher concentrations of PBZ proved to be phytotoxic. Additionally, the application of PBZ ten days after fertilization with ammonium sulfate did not suppress the overgrowth of bean plants, and did not affect their yield. Keywords:Gibberellin. CRESCIMENTO E PRODUÇÃO DE FEIJOEIRO COMUM EM RESPOSTA A APLICAÇÃO COMBINADA DE NITROGÊNIO E PACLOBUTRAZOLRESUMO -Em culturas de feijoeiro de inverno é comum o uso de doses elevadas de nitrogênio na busca de altas produtividades, resultando em plantas com altura excessiva, prostradas, com excesso de folhas, provocando autossombreamento e queda na produtividade e na qualidade dos grãos. A utilização de um regulador de crescimento poderia ser uma alternativa inibindo o crescimento excessivo das plantas contornando o problema. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo determinar a melhor concentração do regulador paclobutrazol (PBZ) para o feijoeiro, cultivares BRS Pontal e BRS Supremo, e avaliar os seus efeitos, quando combinado com a adubação nitrogenada, na altura das plantas, e nos componentes da produtividade, assim como o seu efeito na inibição do crescimento excessivo das plantas aplicado dez dias após a aplicação de sulfato de amônio. Observou-se que o PBZ é um regulador de crescimento efetivo na redução da altura de feijoeiros e aumento no número de vagens e grãos. A concentração de 8 mg L -1 é a que melhor resultado apresenta para estes efeitos, sendo fitotóxicas concentrações mais elevadas. A aplicação de PBZ posteriormente a adubação nitrogenada de cobertura não reverte o efeito desta quanto à indução do crescimento exagerado das plantas e não interfere na produtividade.
