-The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of shoot heading and of hand thinning in different development stages of flowers and fruits on the fruit production and quality of 'BRS Kampai' peach (Prunus persica) trees. The experiment was performed during three crop years, under the conditions of the "Depressão Central" region in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and the treatments were: T1, heading of half of the mixed shoot; T2, heading of one third of the mixed shoot; T3, flower thinning in the pink bud stage; T4, thinning at full bloom; T5, thinning of fruit with 5 mm; T6, thinning of fruit with 20 mm; and T7, no thinning or heading (control). Fruit production and quality were evaluated. Plants with no thinning were more productive, but showed high frequency of fruits with a diameter smaller than 60 mm. Shoot heading reduced production per tree and resulted in small-sized fruit. Thinning time did not affect production, and fruit size was greater when thinning was performed at the bloom stage. 'BRS Kampai' peach trees can be thinned starting at bloom, which provides greater fruit size, with no production loss.Index terms: Prunus persica, fruit quality, yield. Desponte de ramos e raleio manual de flores e frutos em pessegueiros 'BRS Kampai'Resumo -O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito do desponte de ramos e do raleio manual realizado em diferentes estágios de desenvolvimento de flores e frutos sobre a produção e a qualidade dos frutos do pessegueiro (Prunus persica) 'BRS Kampai'. O experimento foi realizado durante três safras nas condições da Depressão Central do Rio Grande do Sul, e os tratamentos foram: T1, desponte da metade do ramo misto; T2, desponte de um terço do ramo misto; T3, raleio de flor no estádio de balão rosado; T4, raleio na plena floração; T5, raleio do fruto com 5 mm; T6, raleio do fruto com 20 mm; e T7, sem desponte ou raleio (testemunha). Avaliaram-se a produção e a qualidade dos frutos. Plantas sem raleio foram mais produtivas, mas com alta frequência de frutos com diâmetro inferior a 60 mm. O desponte reduziu a produção por planta e ocasionou frutos pequenos. A época de raleio não afetou a produção, e o diâmetro dos frutos foi maior quando o raleio foi realizado durante a floração. Pessegueiros 'BRS Kampai' podem ser raleados a partir da floração, o que proporciona maior tamanho dos frutos, sem reduzir a produção.Termos para indexação: Prunus persica, qualidade de fruto, produtividade.

RESUMOUma satisfatória germinação e a redução no período de formação do porta-enxerto para qualquer espécie frutífera é desejável quando se visa a redução dos custos de produção do viveirista. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar a ação dos reguladores vegetais do grupo das citocininas associado ao grupo das giberelinas na germinação de sementes de pessegueiro (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch), sem endocarpo. Utilizaram-se sementes dos cultivares Okinawa, Capdeboscq e Tsukuba. Os produtos comerciais contendo reguladores vegetais usados foram Promalina ® (benziladenina + GA 4 + 7 ) e Pro-Gibb ® (GA 3 ) nas concentrações 0, 100, 200 e 300 mg L -1 , dos princípios ativos. As sementes foram colocadas em placas de Petri, forradas com folha de papel filtro umedecido com solução fúngica e bactericida e mantidas à temperatura ambiente (21 ºC). O Capdeboscq obteve a melhor resposta quanto à porcentagem de germinação e à velocidade de emergência, em todas as concentrações de ambos os reguladores vegetais. Os tratamentos com 200 e 300 mg L -1 , utilizando o regulador vegetal contendo benziladenina + GA 4 + 7 , proporcionaram a maior porcentagem de germinação (80,0% e 78,3%, respectivamente) e maiores índices de velocidade de germinação diários (0,078 e 0,081, respectivamente).Palavras-chave: Porta-enxertos; propagação sexuada; reguladores vegetais; dormência. ABSTRACTA satisfactory seed germination followed by a promptly seedling formation, for any fruits species, is desired when aiming reductions at nursery production costs. The research aimed to assess the role of plant regulators (cytokinin associated to gibberellin group) on peach seed germination (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch) without endocarp. It was used seed of cultivars Okinawa, Capdeboscq e Tsukuba. The commercial products applied were Promalina ® (benziladenina + GA 4 + 7 ) and Pro-Gibb ® (GA 3 ) at 0, 100, 200 and 300 mg L -1 of the active principle. The seeds were set in Petri dishes lined with filter paper previously moistened in an aqueous solution of fungicide and bactericide and kept at room temperature (±21 ºC). 'Capdeboscq' provided the best results regarding to seed germination and emergence velocity, at all concentrations of both plant regulators. The use of benziladenina + GA 4 + 7 at 200 and 300 mg L -1 provided the highest germination percentage (80,0% and 78,3%, respectively), and highest index of daily germination velocity (0,078 and 0,081, respectively).

Application time of chemical thinning with metamitron in ‘Sensação’ peach trees

Thinning is a cultural practice that leads to balance between fruit yield and quality. It is carried out in a short period of time and requires qualified workforce, whose shortage ends up increasing costs. This study aimed at evaluating the thinning effect of metamitron on peach trees at different periods of time after bloom. The experiment was carried out in a commercial orchard of 'Sensação' peach trees located in Morro Redondo, Rio Grande do Sul (RS) state, Brazil, in 2015-2016 crops. Treatments were the application of 200 mg L-1 metamitron, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 days after full bloom (DAFB), and manual thinning 40 DAFB. Fruit abscission, effective fructification, period of manual and chemical thinning, number of fruits and yield per plant, mean fruit mass and fruit caliber were evaluated. When metamitron was applied 40 DAFB, percentages of fruit abscission and fruit set, besides the number of fruits, were similar to the ones found when manual thinning was carried out. The intensity of the thinning effect of metamitron in peach trees depends on the application period.
