Collar rot is a disease difficult to control that has hindered passion fruit cultivation in many regions of Brazil. Therefore, this study aimed to find genetic resistance to the fungus Fusarium solani in Passiflora species using the multivariate analysis methodology to discriminate the most resistant species. The following fourteen Passiflora species were assessed: P. quadrangularis, P. nitida, P. foetida, P. tenuifila, P. alata, P. setacea, P. cincinnata, P. mucronata, P. micropetala, P. suberosa, P. morifolia, P. eichleriana, P. edulis and P. coccinea. These plants were arranged in a casualized block design with 14 treatments (species), three replications and three plants per plot. The reactions of the inoculated species of Passiflora were evaluated with the use of 12 resistance traits. The generalized Mahalanobis distance was used to form groupings by the UPGMA method. 3D projection with the canonical variables and quantification of the relative contribution of characters were also conducted. The UPGMA method revealed the formation of three distinct groups of species, which composed the susceptible, moderately resistant and resistant groups. The groups formed by threedimensional dispersion were similar to those formed by the dendrogram. The following traits contributed most to genetic diversity: inoculation time until the lesion reached more than 50% of the circumference of the injured stem and area under the curve of the expansion of the lesion width. The use of the set of traits and their joint assessment through multivariate analysis allowed greater accuracy in the inference of the most resistant species, mainly P. nitida and P. cincinnata.

“…Observou-se que a desfolha foi positivamente correlacionada somente com a severidade, explicando 99,55% da variação da desfolha dos genótipos (Figura 3). Apesar de Assman et al (2010), reportarem correlações positivas entre severidade de ferrugem e desfolha (R = 0,79**), os mesmos também reportaram correlação positiva entre desfolha e incidência (R = 0,59**). No entanto, é temoroso assumir que a incidência é uma variável epidemiológica adequada para distinguir níveis de resistência se esta possui correlação com a desfolha, como mostram Assman et al (2010), pois a incidência não reflete a severidade da doença (incidência x severidade, R = 0,9947 ns , Tabela 1) em condições onde podem haver diferenças varietais significativas.…”

Reação de genótipos de nectarina (Prunus persicavaABSTRACT -Genetic resistance to disease can be seen as progress in the production of all crops, and sources of resistance have to be reported, thus helping improvement programs. This study aimed to evaluate the resistance of nectarine genotypes to leaf rust and shot hole, as well as to correlate the severity of the diseases with premature defoliation. Three genotypes of the nectarine were evaluated in a randomized block design with ten replications. Based on the results, the genotype Bruna proved resistant to shot hole and susceptible to leaf rust, while the genotype Sunripe was resistant to leaf rust. FLA 9-15N was moderately susceptible to leaf rust. There was correlation between leaf-rust severity and defoliation only.

ResumoA podridão parda causada pelo fungo Monilinia fructicola é a doença mais importante para a cultura do pessegueiro, por ser de difícil controle, causando danos desde a floração até a pós-colheita dos frutos. O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar o uso de biofilmes em pêssegos Eldorado para o controle de podridão parda sem afetar as características sensoriais dos mesmos. Pêssegos cultivar Eldorado em ponto de colheita foram desinfestados em luz ultravioleta e em seguida imersos em soluções de diferentes macromoléculas [amido de milho (3%), fécula de mandioca (3%), gelatina (3%), quitosana (1%) e água destilada (controle). Após os biofilmes secarem, os frutos de cada tratamento foram divididos em dois lotes, sendo que um deles recebeu a aspersão de suspensão conidial de M. fructicola (0,2 mL, com 1,0 x 105 esporos mL -1 ) em lados opostos do fruto. Os frutos foram armazenados por 120 horas a temperatura ambiente (21,78±1,88°C) em bandejas de PVC. Os frutos não mostraram diferenças significativas pelo teste de Duncan (5%) para as variáveis sólidos solúveis totais (12,1 ºBrix), pH (3,74), acidez total titulável (10,03 % ácido málico) e açúcares totais (584 mg g -1 ), sendo observado diferenças para os teores de açúcares redutores e proteínas solúveis (0,49 -0,29 e 0,45 -0,85 mg g -1 ) para os teores de açúcares e proteínas com e sem inoculação respectivamente. A menor incidência de podridões foi observada nos tratamentos contendo amido de milho e fécula de mandioca (29 -33%), observando-se ainda menor atividade da enzima (FAL). Os biofilmes de amido de milho e fécula de mandioca foram eficientes no controle de podridão parda em pêssegos cultivar Eldorado. Peaches grow Eldorado decontaminated in ultraviolet light were immersed in solutions of different macromolecules [corn starch (3%), tapioca starch (3%), gelatin (3%), chitosan (1%) and distilled water (control)]. After the biofilms dry, the fruits of each treatment were divided into two lots , one of which received the sprinkling of conidial suspension of M. fructicola (0.2 mL with 1.0 x 105 spores mL -1 ) on opposite sides the fruit. The fruits were stored for 120 hours at room temperature (21.78±1.88 ºC) in PVC trays.
