“…The isolates showed differences in the decolorization time from those with less inhibition diameters in penicillin sensitivity test than the other, were the faster in the reduction of iodine. These results agreed with Lianes et al [28].…”

“…In other countries, higher levels of b-lactamase production are usually identified. [12][13][14][15] However, in a previous Russian study, a low level of b-lactamase positivity (2%) was also identified. 16 This may indicate that treatment with b-lactams is no longer widespread in Russia or even that endemic spread of the b-lactamase-producing strains has not been established in Russia during the past few years.…”

“…In this study determination of βlactamase production achived by microiodometric assay. This method is sensitive for measuring the rate of hydrolysis of penicillin to penicilloic acid by β-lactamase and depended upon the reduction of iodine by penicilloic acid but not by penicillin and it was carried out by measuring the rate of decolourization of the blue starch iodine complex when the enzyme and substrate react in the presence of the starchiodine (8) . The results of β-lactamase detection reveald that 86.7% liver isolates and 78.6% of lung isolates produce this enzyme but there was variation in their decolourization times.…”

“…Rapid iodometric method was used for detection of β-lactmase as described by (Lian et al,) (8) . As a follow: 2) A 0.1ml of pencilline solution was added to the wells of microtiter plates.…”
