Identification of Cryptosporidium spp. oocysts in fecal smears stained with Heidenhain's iron hematoxylin

Abstract: There is no paucity of methods for diagnosing Cryptosporidium spp. infection. The merits of immunoassays notwithstanding, microscopic identification of Cryptosporidium spp. oocysts in fecal samples remains an important diagnostic procedure.
