Hepatic Steatosis Assessment:

Abstract: -Context -Liver transplantation is one of the last viable resources for patients with end-stage liver disease. Many strategies are been used to improve the number of available organs and overcome waiting list delay. However, hepatic steatosis is one of the mainly concerns when organs are consider to transplantation due to it is importance as a risk factor for primary dysfunction. Surgeons play an important role to decide each organ will be accept or decline and its righteous allocation. Objective -Retrospectiv… Show more

“…On the other hand, LBP P,R riu2 (eq. 9) were then computed on each of the three channels: 10 features from LBP 1,8 riu2 , 18 features from LBP 2,16 riu2 and 26 features from LBP 3,24 riu2 , wich gives a total of 3 × (10 + 18 + 26) LBP based features to a given image. Finally, rotation invariant RI LP Q were computed over three neighborhood sizes (M = 3;5;7) and the corresponding histograms were concatenated.…”

“…Routine liver biopsy as a pretransplantation work-up is challenging because only over 20% of all liver transplants in the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) have a recorded liver donor biopsy (5). The lack of liver donor biopsy is further worsened in settings in which histopathological services are not provided on a 24-hour basis in the transplantation centers (6). Thus, determining the actual prevalence and the risk factors for steatosis in the normal population may assist in stratifying the risk of steatosis in potential liver donors soon after harvesting the liver.…”
