Accumulation of macronutrients in different parts of sunflower fertilized with cassava wastewater

Abstract: A B S T R A C TThe utilization of organic wastes in agriculture is an alternative that can reduce the amounts of mineral fertilizers applied to the soil. The aim of this study was to evaluate the accumulation of macronutrients in sunflower cv. 'Hélio 250' fertilized with cassava wastewater. The experiment was conducted in randomized block design, with six treatments (0; 8.5; 17; 34; 68 and 136 m 3 ha -1 of cassava wastewater) and four replications. The accumulation of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K… Show more

“…It was expected that the plots irrigated with the A 3 water presented higher concentrations of K as a consequence of the greater supply of this nutrient in the referred effluent; however, it is worth noting that the evaluation must also be made in the aspect of the extraction of the nutrients by the respective plant parts; in this manner, according to Dantas et al (2016), the more demanding organs with regard to K in the sunflower crop are the leaves and capitula, followed by the achenes, with 1.52, 1.18 and 0.37 g plant -1 respectively, referring to the higher absorptions of this nutrient by leaves…”

“…These authors verified increases in the sunflower head diameter due to the application of doses of organomineral fertilizer. Likewise, some organic sources show positive effects, such as the cassava wastewater (manipueira) in sunflower (Dantas et al, 2016) and the bovine biofertilizer in melon plants (Santos et al, 2014) Similar to the sunflower head diameter, the model that best fit for the head dry mass was the linear one for the treatments fertilized with the organic and mineral fertilizers and quadratic polynomial model for the control treatment,…”
