Phytochemical characterization, and antioxidant and antibacterial activities of the hydroethanolic extract of Anadenanthera peregrina stem bark

Abstract: The Brazilian Cerrado biome consists of a great variety of endemic species with several bioactive compounds, and Anadenanthera peregrina (L.) Speg is a promising species. In this study, we aimed to perform phytochemical characterization and evaluate the antioxidant and antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli of the hydroethanolic extract of A. peregrina stem bark. The barks were collected in the Botanical Garden of Goiânia, Brazil. The hydroethanolic extract was obtained by … Show more

“…Antioxidant activities were identified in different types of marine algae such as red, green, and brown algae species (Kelman et al, 2012;Marinho et al, 2021). The Ethanol extracts of species of red algae Callophyllis japonica (Kang et al, 2005) and Gracilaria tenuistipitata (Yang et al, 2012) shows antioxidant effects.…”

“…Cardiac glycoside identification (Keller-Kiliani test): The aqCT solution 1 wt% was mixed with glacial acetic acid, FeCl 3 solution 5 wt%, and concentrated sulfuric acid at a volume ratio of 1:1:1:1. If the interface of two layers appeared a reddish-brown color, there was the presence of cardiac glycosides [28].…”
