Vale a pena pagar para desarmar? Uma avaliação do impacto da campanha de entrega voluntária de armas sobre as mortes com armas de fogo

Abstract: ResumoO objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar o impacto de curto prazo da campanha de entrega de armas (política de buy-back) sobre a incidência de óbitos com armas de fogo no Estado do Paraná. “…In 2013, Brazil introduced Law 10,826, governing the registration, possession, and sale of firearms and ammunition and a number of voluntary gun handover and buyback campaigns have been launched since 27 . A study conducted in Paraná showed that a voluntary disarmament campaign did not produce significant results in the short-term because of the small scale of the initiative in comparison to the large stock of guns in the country and the fact that criminals or people who show a greater propensity to commit violent acts do not hand in arms 28 .
