Simulation of the paramagnetic state is still a challenge for computer material science. At the same time, for iron alloys the region of the paramagnetic state is important from the viewpoint of processing. The paper presents results of ab initio modeling of interaction of hydrogen atom with a vacancy in both ferromagnetic and (for the first time) paramagnetic bcc iron. The interaction energy calculations are carried out in the framework of the local spin density approximation (LSDA) by using the supercell LAPW-WIEN-2k method. To obtain the disordered distribution of magnetic moments the program package BINAR was used. Fifteen nonequivalent magnetic configurations were obtained. Five of them having the lowest energy were chosen for further analysis. The H-O site distance is 0.23 Åin both paramagnetic and ferromagnetic bcc iron. The energy of hydrogen trapping by the vacancy is 0.60 and 0.27 for paramagnetic and ferromagnetic state, respectively. It is found that weakening of the H-V interaction in the paramagnetic state is the consequence of magnetic effects.

The paper presents the results of both ab initio and thermodynamic analysis of vacancy and divacancy formation and hydrogen interaction with them in alpha (bcc) iron. Ab initio calculations were performed by DFT method using LAPW in WIEN2k package. Monovacancy formation energy was found to be 2.15 eV and divacancy binding energy 0.22 ± 0.01 eV. Equlibrium fraction of vacancies bound into divacancies is of the order of 10–5 even at the highest temperatures close to bcc → fcc transformation point. Hydrogen has a strong interaction with monovacancies (vacancy-hydrogen binding energy decreasing from 0.60 to 0.31 eV for the first–fifth H atom inside a single vacancy) but has only a small effect on divacancy formation energy that is equal to 0.28, 0.19 and 0.17 for the case of joining of VH + V, VH + VH and VH2 + VH2, respectively. This means that the presence of hydrogen cannot significantly increase the equilibrium concentration of divacancies.

Челябинск, Россия В предшествующих работах было показано, что железная подрешётка структуры цементита Fe 3 C содержит четыре типа междоузлий, в которых потенциально могут располагаться атомы углерода: «нормальные» и «искажённые» призматические поры (НПП, ИПП) и «нормальные» и «искажённые» октаэдрические поры (НОП, ИПП). Расстояния от центров пор до центров окружающих их z атомов железа составляют 1,99-2,04 Å (НПП, z = 6); 1,80-1,87 Å (НОП, z = 6); 1,62 Å (ИПП, z = 4) и 1,25 Å (ИОП, z = 2). Обычно считается, что все атомы углерода находятся в НПП. В данной работе остальные варианты размещения атомов углерода исследованы при помощи расчётов «из первых принципов» методом FP-LAPW в программном пакете WIEN2k и суперячейки, состоящей из 16 атомов (4 формульных единицы Fe 3 C).Структура, в которой все атомы углерода находятся в НПП, обладает наименьшей энергией и объёмом. При размещении всех атомов углерода в НОП энергия повышается на 0,267 эВ/атом С, а объём увеличивается на 9,20 %. Если из НПП в НОП переходит лишь один из четырёх атомов углерода, прирост энергии и объёма составляет соответственно 0,233 эВ/атом С и 3,59 %. Структура, в которой один атом углерода находится в ИПП, а остальные три в НПП, обладает энергией на 0,452 эВ/атом С и объёмом на 3,75 % больше, чем при размещении всех их в НПП. Структуры, в которых все атомы углерода находятся в ИПП, а также в которых один или все четыре атома углерода находятся в ИОП, механически нестабильны и самопроизвольно переходят в обычную структуру цементита с углеродом в НПП. Термодинамические оценки, основанные на полученных данных, свидетельствуют, что даже при температурах ниже 1000 К до 20 % атомов углерода могут переходить из НПП в иные типы пор.Расчёты энергии образования углеродной вакансии в цементите (в суперячейке из 128 атомов, содержащей 96 атомов железа и 32 атома углерода) дали результат 0,50 эВ, а железной -1,34 (для атомов Fe G ) и 1,60 эВ (для атомов Fe S ). Во всех этих случаях образование вакансии не вызывало существенного изменения объёма системы.Ключевые слова: цементит, углерод, поры, энергия образования вакансии, первопринципные расчёты.
