The ongoing socio-economic and socio-cultural changes bring about significant alterations in the social structure of society and the institution of education. This calls for in-depth research to predict the further development of social processes and determine effective methods of managing them at the society and regional levels. The employment of university graduates has essentially acquired the characteristics of a new social process after the abolition of obligatory employment by distribution. The emergence of new statuses (for example, mixed statuses), in which university graduates often find themselves being unemployed or working outside their professions, has become an acknowledged social fact. The interest of many sociologists in this problem is also due to changes in the functions of social institutions, including the institution of education, an important part of which is higher education. The study focuses on the importance of such obstacles as contradictions between the qualification programs, teaching methods, graduates’ competencies, employers’ requirements for the same competencies and qualifications, the mismatch between the studied theory and practice, and the identification and justification of the main employment strategies for university graduates. The study objectives are pursued through descriptive data analysis and the qualitative approach with a questionnaire as the main data collection method. The study is conducted on a sample of 130 organization leaders. The aforementioned problems and shortcomings of Kazakh university graduates’ training are detected and analyzed using comparative analysis. In accordance with the specifics of the labor market, the authors identify the market, paternalistic, and traditional strategies of university graduates’ employment. This research probes the symbolic meaning of the Korkyt Ata Complex aimed at understanding the cultural and spiritual life of the ancient Turkic people. Perhaps, this is the first instance when the semiotic analysis technique has been applied to studying the Korkyt Ata Complex in a broader context of Kazakh culture. Thus, the research is an attempt to reveal its symbolic cultural significance to the Kazakh society using a semiotic methodology as the basis to study the cultural monuments. The role of the Korkyt Ata memorial in the formation of ancient Turkic civilisation was considered from a socio-cultural and philosophical perspective. The symbolic elements of the culturally bound worldview that were depicted in the Korkyt Ata memorial were analysed via the methodological bases of symbolic representations. The symbolic side of the memorial was defined in spiritual, cultural and worldview spheres. The Complex, its external sides specifically, underwent a semiotic analysis to accomplish the above-mentioned objectives.
The article is devoted to the analysis of the semiotic approach, which considers the key principles of the study of cultural values. The authors propose to systematize the methodological principles of the semiotic approach and understanding of culture as a structure consisting of a number of symbolic systems and cultural texts, cultural representativity and symbolic interpretation of culture signs and the concept of “value” as a key concept in the semantic system philosophy. On the basis of the correlation between the methodological principles of the semiotic approach and the ideas of constructivism, the definition of the concept of “value” is refined. Value is understood as a semiotic construction that generates social meanings in the consciousness of the individual and the collective and allows a person to check his ideas about the world around him and on a subconscious level, to construct his own picture of the world.
This study was conducted to determine the culture of reading and its role during the isolation of COVID-19. The study concludes that enhancing reading culture and stimulating reading during pandemics can prevent many psychological disorders. The pandemic, that is, COVID-19, has brought about many changes. During the pandemic, citizens could not attend cultural events. Now if we consider one side of its influence on the culture of reading and reading habits in Kazakhstan? Also, including how people read literature, how much are they connected with the library during the crisis? Have citizens used literature to help regulate emotions in a pandemic? How has changing living conditions changed the practice of reading books? In our reader survey, we wanted to look at people's experiences with literature during the pandemic and identify problems in the study. The findings of this study address practical issues related to a culture of isolation during a pandemic. Important conclusions from this study are an analysis of the stages of reading during isolation, a discussion of world experience in promoting reading, the development of cultural competence in reading, intellectual development, reading materials, as well as their reasons for reading. Recently, the role of books and reading in the life of society has significantly decreased. The need for information is mainly realized with the help of Internet resources. However, such an approach cannot contribute to the integration of a person into a multinational culture with a complex of spiritual, material and intellectual characteristics, traditions, and so on. The level of the concept of cultural and intellectual competence fully affects the politics, economy, national security and competitiveness of the state. It is possible to reverse the emerging negative changes only if we rethink the organization of librarianship. Today, a library is not just a collection and storage of book collections. First of all, this is a qualitative provision of intellectual information to the population. Every day of our activity increasingly confirms the importance of conscious, creative participation of all citizens in the life of the state. It should be noted that a characteristic feature of the concept of reading culture is the ability to understand what is read, to find the most important, important and valuable.
This article explains the methodological foundations of the science of semiotics which are widely used in modern cultural research science and in the study of important signs of today's society. In the methodological basis of the study, special attention was paid to the fundamentals of the analysis of semiotics, a methodological analysis was made to theoretical areas in which it was taken as an object of symbolic analysis of the study by Ferdinand de Saussure, C. Pierce, J. Lotman. In the study of the methods of the science of semiotics, a review has been made of many theoretical studies which gives us the opportunity to explore the main world outlook system in a semiotic way. Signs surround a person from all sides: in art, nature, everyday life, wherever there is a problem of communication or perception. Therefore, the special attention of scientists F de Saussure, C. Pierce, Y. Lotman is attracted to the methods of semiotic research based on the achievements of semiotics, which is the basis for studying symbols, constructs, concepts, etc. The semiotic approach is focused primarily on the analysis of the material in the system of terms and concepts of semiotics. Thus, penetrating into the sphere of various methodological approaches, the semiotic aspect expands both the capabilities of the methodology as a whole and its own research strategies.
