<div>Introdução: O peixe devido à alta qualidade em proteína e grande quantidade de nutrientes é importante na dieta dos humanos.</div><div>O alto teor de ácidos graxos poliinsaturados da série ω (ômega) 3 e ω-6 presente nos peixes previne a formação do colesterol do tipo LDL (lipoproteína de baixa densidade). Objetivo: Este trabalho avaliou a composição centesimal de tecido muscular de espécies de peixes Lutjanus synagris (ariacó) e Ocyurus chrysurus (guaiuba), que foram amostradas mensalmente, no período de março de</div><div>2004 a fevereiro de 2005, na área costeira de Porto Seguro (PS) e duas espécies Opisthonema oglinum (sardinha-laje) e Mugil spp (tainha) na região costeira da baía de Todos os Santos (BTS). No músculo de cada espécie, as análises do teor de umidade, cinzas,proteínas e lipídios totais foram realizadas. Metodologia: Análises químicas realizadas foram teor de umidade, teor de cinzas,teor proteico pelo método de Kjeldahl e o teor de lipídios totais determinado por método de extração a frio. A análise de variância (ANOVA), através do teste F de Snedecor (p<0,05), foi utilizada para identificar diferenças significativas. Resultados: Os resultados da</div><div>análise centesimal dos peixes foram: umidade de 73,0% a 79,9%, cinzas 1,0% a 2,0%, proteínas 17,0 % a 23,2 % e lipídeos totais de 0,4 % e 2,9%. Houve variação significativa do teor dos parâmetros umidade, proteínas e lipídios totais estudados ao longo dos doze meses tanto para as espécies ariacó e guaiuba coletadas na região costeira de Porto Seguro como para as espécies sardinha-laje e tainha coletadas na região costeira da Baía de Todos os Santos. Conclusão: Ariacó está associada ao maior teor de lipídios totais. A</div><div>sardinha-laje apresentou teor mais elevado em cinzas indicando maior conteúdo em minerais. A guaiuba apresentou maior teor de umidade. A tainha, espécie amostrada na BTS, apresentou os maiores percentuais de proteínas.</div>
Levels of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Li, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sb and Se in muscle, gill, stomach, liver, kidney and gonad tissues of six different fish species (Caranx latus, Bagre marinus, Archosargus rhomboidalis, Lutjanus synagris, Scomberomorus cavalla and Sphyraena guachancho) from the Todos os Santos Bay (Bahia State, Brazil) were evaluated. The elements were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) after wet digestion using reflux system with a cold finger. The detected concentration ranges were as follows (mg kg -1 dry weight): < 0.49-27.31 for As, < 0.013-1.12 for Cd, 0.38-6.05 for Cr, 0.17-28.12 for Cu, < 0.092-1.19 for Li, 0.16-55.9 for Mn, < 0.034-1.24 for Mo, < 0.067-15.57 for Ni, < 0.013-0.60 for Pb, < 0.144 for Sb and 0.57-14.6 for Se. Highest concentrations of trace elements were observed in kidney, liver and gill tissues.
A lagoa de Pituaçu está inserida no Parque Metropolitano de Pituaçu (PMP). Esta recebe efluentes domésticos e pluviais e encontra--se em um processo acelerado de degradação ambiental. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo determinar a concentração de metais (Al, Cu, Fe, Mn, V) METALS CONCENTRATION IN SEDIMENT LAGOON OF METROPOLITAN PARK PITUAÇU, BAHIA/BRAZIL ABSTRACTThe Pituaçu lagoon is part of the Pituaçu Metropolitan Park (PMP). Its receives domestic wastewater and rainwater and is in an accelerated process of environmental degradation. This study aimed to determine the concentration of metals (Al, Cu, Fe, Mn, V) in pond sediments Pituaçu Metropolitan Park, Salvador, Brazil. Seven sampling points were defined. The determination of metals (Al, Cu, Fe, Mn and V) was accomplished using the technique of optical emission spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma (ICP OES). The range of concentrations found were: Al (3,618--27,210 mg kg --1 ); Fe (11,968--122,030 mg kg --1 ); Mn (44.00to 481.50 mg kg --1 ); V (25.00 to 111.50 mg kg --1 ) and Cu (4.05 to 25.50 mg kg --1 ). The order of concentration at various points was Fe> Al>Mn> V> Cu or Fe> Al>Mn = V> Cu, with the highest and lowest concentrations of all metals found in the points P1 and P3, respectively. There was spatial variations in the concentrations of metals, with higher concentrations in sample points with anthropogenic activities (effluents and agricultural activity). This study reports relatively high levels, especially for V, indicating possible need of expand conservation actions or environmental monitoring to avoid accumulation of these metals in toxic levels for water, sediment and its biota.
In this study, concentrations of trace elements in tissues of shrimp species (Litopenaeus vannamei) from farming and zone natural coastal located in the northeastern Brazil were investigated. The elements determination was performed by optical emission spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma (ICP OES). The following ranges of concentrations in the tissues were obtained in µg g -1 dry weight: Al: 13. . The shrimp muscle can be a good iron source (about 88.9 mg -1 g dry weight). The distribution of Se concentration in tissues showed much variation between locations, and the concentration levels found in shrimp muscles of wild samples were high, where its levels in 67% of muscle and 50% of others tissues samples exceeded the ANVISA limit, indicating evidence of selenium bioaccumulation. Distribuição de elementos traço em tecidos do camarão Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone, 1931) da Bahia, Brasil ResumoEsse estudo teve como objetivo avaliar as concentrações de elementos traço em tecidos da espécie de camarão Litopenaeus vannamei coletadas da zona costeira e de carciniculturas localizadas no nordeste do Brasil. Os elementos químicos foram determinados por espectrômetro de emissão óptica com plasma indutivamente acoplado (ICP OES). Foram encontradas as seguintes faixas de concentrações desses elementos nos tecidos (em mg g -1 peso seco): Al: 13,4-886,5; Cd: 0, 80; Cu: 24, Fe: 3, Mn: 0,4; Se: 0,81 and Zn: 20,4. O músculo do camarão investigado pode ser uma boa fonte de ferro (cerca de 88.9 mg-1g peso seco). A distribuição da concentração de Se nos tecidos apresentou muita variação entre as localidades, com níveis acima do estabelecido pela ANVISA para 67% dos musculos e 50% dos outros tecidos investigados, indicando evidências de bioacumulação do selênio. Houve correlações significativas entre os seguintes pares de elementos:: Fe-Zn (r= -0,70), Mn-Cu (r= -0,74), Se-Cu (r= -0,68), Se-Mn (r= 0,82) nos músculos, Fe-Al (r= 0,99), Mn-Al e Mn-Fe (r= 0,62), Se-Al (r = 0,88), Se-Fe (r= 0,87), Se-Mn (r= 0,58) no exoesqueleto e Cu-Zn (r = 0,68), Al-Cu (r= 0,88), Fe-Cu (r= 0,95) and Fe-Al (r= 0,97) nas vísceras.Palavras-chave: Baia de Todos os Santos, camarão, elementos traço, bioacumulação, ICP OES.

Concentrations of ten elements (Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, Se, Sr, V and Zn) were determinate in muscle tissues of 13 fish species from Aratu Bay, Bahia, Brazil by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. The accuracy and precision of our results were checked by using two certified reference materials: BCR-422 cod muscle and SRM 1566b oyster tissue. The average trace element concentrations in the fish species varied in the following ranges, in μg g0.03-0.8 for Cr; 2.0-33.7 for Cu, 2.4-135.1 for Fe, 1.6-25.6 for Se; 1.6-35.1 for Sr; and 2.8-40.5 for Zn. The Diaptereus rhombeus (carapeba) specie presented the highest concentrations of Se, Cu and Fe. Chromium and Se were present at levels above the limit of tolerance allowed by the National Agency of Sanitary Vigilance (ANVISA). The results were also evaluated using the multivariate analysis techniques: principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA).Keywords: seafood, chromium, selenium, composition, ICP OES. A precisão e exatidão dos resultados foram analisadas utilizando dois materiais de referência certificada: BCR-422 cod muscle e o SRM 1566b oyster tissue. A concentração média dos elementos traço nas espécies de peixes variaram nas seguintes faixas, em μg g −1 : Cr = 0, 8; Cu = 2,7, Fe = 2,1, Se = 1,[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25]6; Sr = 1,1;. A espécie Diaptereus rhombeus (carapeba) apresentou as maiores concentrações de Se, Cu e Fe. Cromo e Se apresentaram níveis acima do limite de tolerância estabelecido pela Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (ANVISA). Plants can absorb cadmium from contaminated soils. This toxic metal can cause many negative effects on plant's morphophysiological development. The aim of this study was to determine the biometric aspects and to assess the ecotoxicological effects of cadmium on the germination and initial development of pepper mastic (Schinus terebinthifolius). The experiment followed a completely randomized design with treatments consisting of eight cadmium concentrations (0.0; 0.2; 0.4; 0.6; 0.8; 1.0; 2.0; 4.0 and 6.0 mM), with four replications. The response variables analyzed included: percentage of germination speed index (GSI), length of shoots and roots of seedlings. Cadmium caused high percentage of inhibition on the germination of S. terebinthifolius, presenting negative effects from 0.2 mM (35.2% inhibition) by 70.2% with 0.6 mM. In early seedling development, it was found that its presence interferes with the root growth more than with shoots. In both parts, cadmium interfered significantly from the concentration of 0.2 mM. However, the 0.4 mM concentration impacts are more pronounced in the root system development. In environments contaminated by cadmium, establishing the germination and development of this species may not be possible.
ResumoOs principais impactos ambientais causados por atividades petrolíferas são decorrentes de atividades de exploração, transporte e refino. Após o acidente do Golfo do México em 2010, aumentou a preocupação ambiental global em desenvolvimento de métodos e materiais que tenham capacidade de remover, recuperar e degradar o petróleo. O presente estudo objetivou aproveitar o resíduo de coco (Cocos nucifera L.) como sorvente em derramamento de óleo no ambiente marinho. Os resultados evidenciaram que, além da boa capacidade de sorção de óleo com grande presença de n-alcanos, o uso das fibras de coco sem tratamento térmico é melhor, enquanto a fibra de coco com tratamento térmico é mais adequada para óleo com grande presença de resinas e asfaltenos.Palavras-chave: Derramamento de óleo, hidrocarbonetos, remediação, resíduo natural. Fibers of Cocos nucifera as sorbent of petroleum in marine environment AbstractThe main environmental impacts caused by oil activities are derived from exploration, transportation and refining activities. Following the Gulf of Mexico accident in 2010, increased global environmental concern in developing methods and materials that have the ability to remove, recover and degrade oil. The present study aimed to take advantage of the coconut residue (Cocos nucifera L.) as sorbent in oil spill in the marine environment. The results showed that, in addition to the good sorption capacity of oil with a high presence of n-alkanes, the use of coconut fiber without heat treatment is better, whereas coconut fiber with heat treatment is more suitable for oil with high presence of resins and asphaltenes.
