Abstract-The aims of this study are two folds, to identify whether intention to whistle blow exists; and to ascertain the relationship between perceived organizational support, channel of communication, attitude and intention to blow the whistle. The study was conducted in seven public offices in West Malaysia, involving 511 employees. The findings indicate that all the predicted elements are moderately associated with the act of whistle blowing. On the other hand, channel of communication is proven to be the most dominant variable where the existence of facilities to complaint is seen as the driver for employees to move forward and tell the truth. Moreover internal programs held by the organizations also supported the findings, as a powerful tool to create awareness of the importance to blow the whistle within the organization setting; while fair and just treatments by the organization have generated trust and confidence amongst the employees where they feel empowered and belongingness. Whistle blowing is also perceived as a new commitment by the respondents as reflecting their loyalties to the organization.Index Terms-Whistle blowing, whistle blowing intention, perceived organizational support, channel of communication, Malaysia.
Employee benefits which included mandatory benefits and fringe benefits are becoming essential portion of the compensation packages that are offered by organizations to their employees. The purpose of this study was to reveal whether employee benefits offered by the organization are important as antecedents to organizational commitment for employees in food-manufacturing industry in the state of Kedah, Malaysia. A total of 161 employees responded to the survey. The results of the study suggested that mandatory benefits and fringe benefits were positively influenced organizational commitment. The results further denoted that fringe benefits fully mediated mandatory benefits when predicting organizational commitment. The implications of the findings were discussed.
Followers have been the center of organizational focus in modern structure. The activation of followership could be a remark of successful leadership. Leaders must begin to understand the types of people they lead. Team members identify themselves as a unit and practically plan organizational development and progress to achieve similar strategies and objectives. The development of a leadermember exchange is based on characteristics of the 'working relationship' as opposed to a personal or friendship relationship. Leaders create unity through demonstration of group-mindedness by making more references to the collective history, the collective identity and interests, and collective efficacy. The more leaders augment follower identification (through role modeling or group socialization), the more followers will likely experience higher feelings of ownership and responsibility. This paper is intended to characterize the types of followers that might exist in organizations, and establish an integration of followers' classification.
The increasing cases of outrageous acts of dumping newborn babies and fetuses in Malaysia recently alarming the Malaysian to take serious attention in handling this matter. This research was about youngsters' perception on baby dumping issue. Out of 7,535 populations at four selected schools at the area of Bakar Arang State Assembly under Sungai Petani Parliamentary, Kedah, 400 students were selected as respondents. In this study, simple random sampling was used. This research used Descriptive Statistic and Pearson Correlation for data analysis purposes. Data were collected from July until October 2010. Three hypotheses were tested and accepted. The result indicates that there were positive relationship between awareness towards consequences of free sex, knowledge on sex education and religious belief towards baby dumping cases. The significant of this study was awareness creation on consequences of having free sex among youngsters as well as parents and school administration and also inclusive of religious bodies/agencies in taking seriously on the impact of this issue towards our social development in global era. Conclusion/Recommendations: The recommendations were made to the parties concerned in this issue in order to find the best solution in curbing this problem.
This research is about users' perception of environmental functions provided by local government focused on Kedah Local authorities. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between environmental functions and the level of user's perception of local government. The sampling of this research is about 300 respondents in Kulim Municipal Council, Sungai Petani Municipal Council and Alor Star City Council. In this study, simple random sampling was used where only 100 respondents in each local authority were selected. This research used Descriptive Statistic and Pearson Correlation for data analysis purposes. Data were collected from 228 users in October 2007 until January 2008. In this research two hypotheses were tested. The hypotheses which include cleanliness, collection and disposal wastes were not rejected. Findings indicated that all independent variables have significance with user's perception of environmental functions provided by local government in Alor Star City Council, Sungai Petani Municipal Council and Kulim Municipal Council. However, local authorities should provide the better services and facilities to increase the level of satisfaction among users in future research.
