The state requires leaders who own intelligence and characters. Indonesia as a developing country is clearly very interested in finding out how to integrate the character values into the learning process in the classroom. Japan becomes a destination because it can provide character education to its students. Research Team of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) held collaborative research with Prof. Takuya Baba, Ph.D. from Hiroshima University, Japan as the Partner Lecturer. The purpose of this qualitative research was to get input on how elementary school teachers in Japan integrate the character values in learning, especially in math lessons. Its main activities, conducting class observations, interviews, Focus Group Discussion, and triangulation with guidance from the Partner Lecturer. The research site was Miyauchi Elementary School of Hiroshima and at IDEC of Hiroshima University. As a result, the UNNES research team obtained ways to integrate the values of characters in learning, especially in math lessons. The result of this research is expected to be applied at elementary schools in Semarang, Indonesia.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of environmental education in Elementary School. The study was conducted at SDN 1 Kota Banda Aceh. The research subjects are school residents (students, teachers, education personnel, principals, and school committees). This research is designed using a qualitative approach. This study is focused on the implementation of environmental education in primary schools. Data collection uses observation sheet instrument (observation), focused interview, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The research data were analyzed descriptively. The results show that the implementation of environmental education can be realized in habituation to maintain personal hygiene, class cleanliness, and worship together according to his beliefs and sports.
In today's global era, thinking skills are essential to be mastered by students. This research intended to develop and implement PBL-based worksheets integrated with green chemistry and ethnoscience to improve thinking skills, which included generic science skills and critical thinking skills. These skills were observed through learning outcomes, which were divided into three domains, i.e., cognitive, psychomotor, and affective. The cognitive aspect was assessed through pre-and post-test results, the psychomotor domain was valued through an essay test and observational sheets, and the affective domain was evaluated using questionnaires and observational sheets. This research was conducted with XI graders of MAN I Semarang and SMA Pekalongan. There were three rounds implemented; first, preliminary research which has observed the problems in chemistry learning, particularly on the hydrolysis topic and continued to the development of worksheets, then validated. The next round was the implementation of the worksheets. The N-gain test was used to see the influence of the developed worksheets on the increase in critical thinking skills and generic science skills. The critical thinking scored 0.58 (moderate), while the generic science, which covered scale awareness and logical inference, scored 0.63 (moderate) and 0.73 (high), respectively. A paired t-test results revealed that there was a remarkable increase in the logical inference and awareness of scale. Moreover, the results of the study found that the applied worksheets were practical for cognitive, affective, psychomotor seen from the learning outcomes.
The purpose of this research is (1) to test whether there was a difference in the average students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities before and after implementing information and communication technology-based lesson studies and (2) to test whether students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities after learning through the application of technology information and communication-based lesson study to achieve learning completeness. This research was an experimental type using a quasi-experimental design and refers to the one group’s pretest-posttest design. The population in this research were students of the Mathematics Education study program Universitas Muria Kudus. The sample of this research is the first semester students. The test technique is used as a research data collection technique. Technique tests are carried out to measure students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities. The data analysis in this research includes the sample group average difference test and learning mastery test. Based on the data analysis, the results of the mathematical problem-solving ability after implementing lesson study based on information and communication technology are better than before applying and the mathematics problem-solving ability of students after learning through application after implementing lesson study based on information and communication technology reaches learning completeness.
The values of Nationalism and Integrity are very important to be grown in the young generation. Japan has succeeded in strengthening those values through education in schools. Therefore, it is necessary to do collaborative research between the Research Team of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) with the partner lecturer from Hiroshima University, that is Prof. Takuya Baba, Ph.D. The problem: How to integrate the values of Nationalism and Integrity in mathematics teaching-learning process at Miyauchi Elementary School of Hiroshima? The research method uses a qualitative approach with the research subjects of Miyauchi Elementary School teachers were selected. The main activity in Japan: observation, interviews, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in Miyauchi Elementary School, guided by the partner lecturer. The results of this research: (1) Nationalism and Integrity values has been instilled through families traditionally. (2) Schools apply Nationalism and Integrity values in real context through the learning process, including in the mathematics learning. (3) Courtesy and discipline were also planted in the classroom and has been entrenched among teacher-students. (4) When the student answers the teacher’s question, the students immediately stand up and salute by bowing, then respond.
The objectives of this study are 1) to find out how the effectiveness of the Blended Learning model with E-Module in improving creative thinking skills. 2) Describe the ability to think creatively in terms of students’ metacognition. This research is a mix method research with a sequential explanatory design that combines quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. Quantitative analysis is used to determine the effectiveness of the Blended Learning model while quantitative analysis is to determine the creative thinking process in terms of students’ metacognition. The research subjects were students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Salatiga. The results showed that the Blended Learning Model with E-Module was effective for increasing students’ creative thinking abilities. Qualitative analysis showed that students with high metacognition were able to meet all the criteria for creative thinking abilities including fluency, flexibility, novelty and elaboration. Students with moderate metacognition cannot meet all indicators of creative thinking ability, students still have difficulty in flexibility and novelty indicators. Students with low metacognition have many deficiencies in fulfilling creative thinking skills, only fluency indicators can be fulfilled properly by these students. Based on these results, it shows that metacognition has a role in students’ creative thinking abilities.
This study aims to design a measuring tool for Technological Pedagogic Content Knowledge (TPACK), especially for prospective mathematics teachers. This research uses design research and Development (R n D) which refers to the ADDIE development model, which includes Analysis, Design, Development, and Evaluation. Based on the results of expert validation on the TPACK capability instrument, namely the TPACK ability questionnaire instrument and sheets teaching practice observations based on the TPACK aspect are included in the very valid category.
