Several issues that are interesting and integrated with courses and the industrial world are related to the environment and waste with a circular economy approach. The results of the 2021 campus and city waste research show that the type of food and drink most often consumed on campus and in households in the form of packaged rice dominates 65.8% and plastic packaging 49.4% (Nurjannah S, 2021). The high percentage of these types of food and beverages has an impact on the generated waste. The waste generated by the campus is a scourge in health and environmental aspects. Efforts to encourage a circular economy transition in Indonesia to achieve sustainable development or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The circular economy will take on a bigger role, especially in relation to the increasing commitment to zero waste within the Muhammadiyah University of Mataram campus environment, and in the future it can realize zero waste West Nusa Tenggara. Therefore, circular economy is the most appropriate model in waste management. In 2022, we are likely to see a stronger push for the transition to a circular economy in anticipation of the climate crisis.
Government policies in waste management aim to improve public health, environmental quality, and waste as a resource. Data shows that 73.6% of residences have not classified waste into organic, inorganic, and hazardous waste types. This qualitative research uses sociological jurisprudence and legal sociology approaches. Data is obtained through literature review and case studies. Results show that garbage banks are used as a form of waste management, where recyclable and/or reusable waste with economic value are sorted and collected. The waste bank implementation is synergized with manufacturers in the form of corporate social responsibility. These CSR funds are not yet maximized for waste management groups established by the West Nusa Tenggara Province, which has reached 99 units in 2017 and 54 in 2018. Funds are dominated by local governments in fostering, socializing programs, and providing facilities, infrastructure as well as capital assistance. In addition to local governments, manufacturers participate in ensuring everyone's right to a good and healthy environment through garbage banks. Another form of responsibility is efforts to change the society’s paradigm and behaviour on sustainable waste management from its source. This has not run optimally, nor has it been synergized with volunteer-based academics.

The COVID-19 pandemic has weakened many sectors, one of which is tourism. Almost all priority tourism locations of the government experience a significant decrease in the number of foreign and domestic visitors. This also impacts the level of welfare of the community around the tourism area. This study is conducted to compare the Exponential Smoothing (ES) Holt and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Back Propagation methods. That aims to see how the effectiveness and accuracy of both methods to be applied to the predictive process of the number of tourist visits in North Maluku Province using the G-MFS-based MATLAB application. The data on the number of tourists were taken from the Central Statistics Agency of North Maluku Province in 2008-2019. The accuracy parameter indicates that the error for the Holt method has a MAPE value of 9.2976. As for the Back Propagation method, the error is smaller, with a MAPE value of 1.2585. From the results, in 2020 the number of tourists visiting North Maluku should have been around 13,868 people per month. This result can at least be compared to the number of real visitors in 2020 during the COVID-19 outbreak. There is a very high difference between what was predicted and what happened in the field. From the results of this research, it is expected that tourism-related parties or institutions can conduct further research and studies so that they can know the policies to be taken in order to increase the number of tourists visiting North Maluku Province.
