Aim. To study prevalence of arterial hypertension (AH), mean values of systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP, DBP), awareness of patients about their disease, medication consumption (MC) and efficacy of treatment in several regions of Russia.Material and methods. Representative selections were made in 9 regions of Russia: men (n=5563), women (n=9737) of 25–64 y.o., studied in 2012–2013 with the response 80%. Systematic stratified multilevel random selection was formed with localilty criteria (Kisch method). The Questionnaire on the presence of AH included: awareness of the patient about his disease, drug intake. BP measurement was performed on the right arm by automatic tonometer Omron in sitting position after 5 minutes resting. The mean value of two measurements was used. BP defined as SBP ≥140 mmHg, DBP ≥90 mmHg, or if the patient had taken antihypertensive therapy. Efficacy of treatment — the part of patients (in %) who reached target BP. Control group — part of patients (in %) with BP <140/90 mmHg. Statistic data calculation was done with computer-based statistic software — SAS with standardising by age stratification of Europe.Results. Mean SBP and DBP were 130,7±0,1 mmHg and 81,6±0,1 mmHg respectively. Prevalence of AH — 44%, higher in men (p<0,001). Prevalence of AH was higher in rural area citizens in men — 51,8% vs 47,5% (р<0,02) and in women — 42,9% vs 40,2% (р<0,05). Awareness was 67,5% in men, 78,9% in women. Medications were taken by 60,9% of women and 39,5% of men. Effectively treated were 53,5% of women and 41,4% of men. With the age the part of effectively treated decreases (p<0,0005). BP is under control only in 1/3 of women and 14,4% of men.Conclusion. The role of AH as one of the main modifiable risk factors of cardiovascular diseases is proved, however it is depressing that the percent of controlled AH is low. BP control is the main task of outpatient surveillance at every local outpatient department, where now less than a half of those affected are being observed.

Цель. Изучить социально-экономические градиенты-образовательный и профессиональный статусы, уровень благосостояния, поведенческие факторы риска (ФР) в российской популяции по данным исследования ЭССЕ-РФ. Материал и методы. Материалом для анализа послужили представительные выборки 13 регионов РФ (n=22 906) участников исследования, в т. ч. мужчин (n=8 353) и женщин (n=13 553) 25-64 лет, с откликом 80%. Рассчитывали отношение шансов наличия поведенческих ФР: курения, избыточного потребления алкоголя, низкой физической активности (НФА), нерационального питания, тревожных и депрессивных расстройств, у лиц, принадлежащих различным социально-экономическим слоям по уровню образования, типу поселения, профессиональной принадлежности, уровню благосостояния. Результаты. Высшее образование ассоциировалось с лучшим профилем ФР за исключением НФА (обратная ассоциация) и злоупотреблением алкоголем (отсутствие ассоциации). "Белые воротнички" в целом характеризовались меньшей вероятностью наличия ФР по сравнению с "синими воротничками", за исключением НФА и психоэмоциональных расстройств (у мужчин). В отношении ассоциации уровня благосостояния с ФР выявлен обратный градиент, т. е. чем выше уровень благосостояния, тем выше вероятность наличия ФР, за исключением НФА и избыточного потребления алкоголя у женщин. Например, у мужчин с очень высоким уровнем благосостояния отношение шансов наличия депрессивных расстройств составило 3,09 [95% ДИ 2,08-4,57] по сравнению с лицами с низким уровнем благосостояния. Abdominal obesity (AO) is a predictor of cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus type 2. The assessment of the disease prevalence and the study of socioeconomic status of people with this phenotype of obesity are necessary to develop effective mechanisms to combat this risk factor in the population. The aim of the study is to determine the prevalence of AO in the population and to assess the association with socioeconomic factors according to the data of the ESSE-RF study (Epidemiology of Cardiovascular diseases in the Regions of the Russian Federation). Materials and methods. The object of the study is a random population sample of men and women aged 25-64 years from 13 regions of the Russian Federation (n=21 817). Abdominal obesity in men was defined as waist circumference (WC) >94 cm, and in women - WC >80 cm. Body mass index (BMI) >30.0 kg/m2 was adopted as the criterion of common obesity. Results and discussion. The prevalence of AO in Russia was 55% (61.8% in women and 44% in men), while the percent of people with obesity, defined by BMI was significantly lower (33.4%). The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is progressively increasing nowadays, as well as of other diseases associated with obesity. Though the detectability of new DM cases is still low. The present study deals with type 2 DM prevalence assessment in Russian population and in hypertensive patients. Objective. To assess type 2 DM prevalence, including undiagnosed DM, in general population and in population of hypertensive patients according to ESSE RF (Cardiovascular disease epidemiology in Russian Federation regions) study results. Materials and methods. A random population sampling of men and women aged 25-64 years in 10 cities in Russia (n=16 936) was performed. Results. The prevalence of DM accounted for 5.2%, newly diagnosed (undiagnosed) DM was found in 3.5% respondents. Among hypertensive patients the prevalence of DM was higher and accounted for 8.6%. In 5.2% of the respondents the fasting glucose level was higher than 7 mmol/L with no DM in past medical history. The prevalence of DM in general population accounted for 8.6% and in hypertensive patients - 13.8%.

Symptoms of insomnia are widespread among participants of the ESSE-RF study and associated with socio-demographic characteristics. Groups with high risk of insomnia include women, older age groups, divorced or living separately, those with primary education, unemployed pensioners and people with disabilities living in a communal apartment or 'other' type of housing.
