The Master EquationUinary melts crystallizing with alrnost perfectly ordered structures if exposed to conditions close t o therniodyiiaiiiic equilibrium exhibit an increasing tendency to forill iiictastable crystals with increasing disorder when these alloys crystallize on the growth conditions of supercooling. Based on the model of a two-phase transition zone separating a growing crystal from its non-solid surrounding a kinetic master equation is formulated describing the kinetics of competitive atomic exchangv processes within the trarrsition region. The theory considers the case of siniple cubic structure with equal particle numbers of two components that form a NaC1-type lattire at the state of perfect order. a ) and Zentralinstitut f u r Festkorperphysik und Werkstofforschung der Alcademie der Wissenschujten der DDR, Institutsteil f u r mugnetische Werkstoffe, Jenul) ( b ) on the occasion of his 75th birthdayThe problem of the kinetic order-disorder phase transition in binary crystals growing from a 50% A + B melt is studied taking into account topological restrictions of the interface. The interface is formed due to thermally driven atomic-scale concentration fluctuations of solid particles. To tackle this problem a microscopic model is suggested for describing the structure of the interface and the crystallization due to elementary particle exchange processes between the binary melt and the growing crystalline phase. The kinetic equation method is used to treat these elementary exchange processes of particles analytically. Especially, a qualitative new behaviour of the longrange order parameter and growth velocity of the binary crystal near the order-disorder point of the kinetic phase transition is found.
