Online teaching transition during COVID-19 school lockdown elicited challenges for teachers and schools across the globe. The existing literature on the impact of COVID-19 in the education sector is predominantly descriptive and focused on the difficulties faced by teachers during the process of transferring into online teaching, mainly in the higher education sector. This study adopted a mixed-method design to examine online teaching self-efficacy (TSE) during COVID-19, its associated factors and moderators. A sample of 351 Chinese school teachers retrospectively reported their online TSE at the beginning and end of COVID-19 school lockdown, out of which six were followed up for an in-depth interview. TSE for online instruction did not significantly increase (β = .014, p > 0.05) whereas that for technology application increased significantly (β = .231, p < 0.01). Lack of experience in online teaching, separation of teachers from students, school administrative process and unsatisfactory student academic performance were identified as the major associated factors. A moderation effect of adaptability and teacher burnout on the change in online TSE were examined, of which passion burnout was the only significant moderator toward the change in online TSE. The study thus concluded that teachers’ online TSE for technology application increased among Chinese teachers during COVID-19 school lockdown. We constructed a number of HXB2 viruses chimeric for the gp 120 glycoprotein derived from a number of viable molecular clones obtained from a primary isolate. Comparative biological characterization of the parental primary viruses with the gp 120.HXB2 chimeras demonstrated identical patterns of cell tropism and cytopathicity. Furthermore, both parental and chimeric viruses were insensitive to neutralization by sCD4 and a panel of conformation-dependent monoclonal antibodies, demonstrating that transfer of the gp 120 protein alone was sufficient to confer a "neutralization-resistant" phenotype to the T-cell-adapted clone HXB2. We assessed the contribution of gp 120 epitopes to the neutralizing immune response by comparing the sensitivity of these viruses to neutralization by a panel of sera from HIV-infected individuals. Seven of eleven sera tested were able to neutralize HXB2 and two or more of the chimeric viruses; in contrast, only one serum neutralized more than one of the parental primary virus clones. The association of gp 120-gp41 envelope at the surface of infected PBMC cultures was measured in the presence or absence of soluble CD4. No differences in CD4-induced gp 120 dissociation were seen between the chimeric and parental virus-infected cultures. Since gp 120 conformation appeared the same between primary and chimeric viruses, we suggest that the ability of human sera to neutralize the chimeric viruses may be mediated by epitopes within gp41.

In this paper, given the beamforming vector of confidential messages and artificial noise (AN) projection matrix and total power constraint, a power allocation (PA) strategy of maximizing secrecy rate (Max-SR) is proposed for secure directional modulation (DM) networks. By the method of Lagrange multiplier, the analytic expression of the proposed PA strategy is derived. To confirm the benefit from the Max-SRbased PA strategy, we take the null-space projection (NSP) beamforming scheme as an example and derive its closed-form expression of optimal PA strategy. From simulation results, we find the following facts: in the medium and high signal-to-noiseratio (SNR) regions, compared with three typical PA parameters such β = 0.1, 0.5, and 0.9, the optimal PA shows a substantial SR performance gain with maximum gain percent up to more than 60%. Additionally, as the PA factor increases from 0 to 1, the achievable SR increases accordingly in the low SNR region whereas it first increases and then decreases in the medium and high SNR regions, where the SR can be approximately viewed as a convex function of the PA factor. Finally, as the number of antennas increases, the optimal PA factor becomes large and tends to one in the medium and high SNR region. In other words, the contribution of AN to SR can be trivial in such a situation.

Strongly conflict-avoiding codes are used in the asynchronous multiple-access collision channel without feedback. The number of codewords in a strongly conflict-avoiding code is the number of potential users that can be supported in the system. In this paper, an upper bound on the size of strongly conflictavoiding codes is proved. In addition, we provide an improved upper bound if the codes are all equi-difference. This bound is further shown to be tight asymptotically.
