The central notion of the cognitive linguistics “concept” has been defined in a number of ways thus the authors suggest the unique way to treat its structure and content. The article provides the interpretation variability of a concept taking into account two approaches – lingual and cultural and semantic and cognitive one which construct cognitive and discourse vector lying in the dimension of both cognition and communication. Whereas the content of a concept is carried out via multidimensional (thinking and speaking in the first place) activity of a person the work considers its structure (imaginary, notional, axiological and adorative (secret) components being in a harmonious unity with the structure of a communicative personality (pragmatic-motivational, cognitive, verbal-semantic, transcendental levels). Concept is a coherent ethnic and mental unit possessing complex four-level structure. It implies interaction and interrelation between a concept and communicative personality, their two-side hierarchical connection particularly using spiritual halo. The following research methods were used in the work: observation, induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis, modelling method, which are necessary for the objective scientific definition of the subject in question; cognitive and discourse analysis. The article provides stratification of a concept in connection with the structure of communicative personality.
The study analyses the peculiarities of the national and language picture of the world based on “Russian and Ukrainian Dictionary for the Military” by A. Buriachok, M. Demskyi, B. Yakymovych. The article deals with the features of establishment of the national identity in terms of the development of the terminological system as the aspect to define notional and conceptual area in Ukrainian people’s perception. The study provides a wide range of lexicographic comparison between Russian and Ukrainian to represent the characteristic features of word formation processes taking place in Ukrainian military terminological system. It proves that the transformation of the Ukrainian military terminology into modern model as well as its prospects can serve a foundation for the national identity. Terminology plays a major role in the development of the lexicon of modern languages. Its significance is especially noticeable nowadays in the tendency of returning to anthropocentrism or if to be more precise ethnocentrism while each society perceives the reality as well as renders its phenomena by language means according to its peculiarities in perception.
The figure of a prominent Ukrainian writer Ivan Franko and his innovation in the evolution of the Ukrainian political and linguocognitological thought, especially his original ideas about a new type of the interdisciplinary studies in the Ukrainian linguistics are outlined in the research. The article analyses cognitive and discourse approach to the assessment of linguistic phenomena, defining a language as a living system, distinguishes linguophilosophical thinking of Ivan Franko as a linguist-anthropocentrist. According to his reflections on the scientific language nature and its inseparable semantic core, a term, it is possible to regard the ideological basis inherited by modern interdisciplinary studies: cognitive linguistics, theory of communication, linguopolitology. Thanks to Ivan Franko’s intellectual innovations, they managed to establish the Ukrainian anthropological terminology. According to Ivan Franko, pragmatic features merge into scientific definition along with a rational and logic explanation of a term context. They refer to emotion-esteem sphere of a speaker, their ideas and feelings. Thus, the scientist’s objectivism functions together with the publicist’s talent. When in the process of communication between its constituent entities, each of which creates his or her communicative-pragmatic space from the position of egocentrism, we experience cognitive conflicts or conflict situations, as a result, the communicative interaction is broken. The above observations give reasons to believe that Franko’s theory of suggestion has made the bridge to the modern theory of communication, which says: it is not so important what is said, but what is happening in the addressee. In other words: defining in the communication (exchanging of ideas, knowledge, feelings, behaviour patterns, etc) is not so much a communication code (language), but an internal, cognitive code, essence of man, his soul. This internal code is materialized in suggestion. Keywords: Ivan Franko, school of political thinking, term-politonim, cognitive-discourse approach, pragmatic meaning, anthropological terminology.
The article represents linguistic innovative ideas of Ivan Franko – terminologist and term inventor, his natiosophical regard of a scientific language. Franko’s multidimensional characteristic of a term by means of triple model ‘culture – consciousness – utterance’ formed in the Ukrainian linguistics methodological basis for anthropological terminology and particularly interdisciplinary sciences (cognitive linguistics, psycholinguistics, theory of communication, linguopolitology). By and large, they formed linguocognitological paradigm. The study highlights the influence of the thinker-encyclopedist on the establishment of the Ukrainian cognitive linguistics.
