To study the effect of off-axis initiation on shaped charge performance. The nonlinear finite element software LS-DYNA is used to simulate the jet forming and armour-breaking process under different initiation offsets (0.025~0.125Dk, Dk is shaped charge diameter). A theoretical model is established to analyse the lateral velocity distribution of jet. The results show that the degree of asymmetric collapse and lateral velocity of jet increase with the offset. When the initiation offset exceeds 0.025Dk, the jet penetration capability of shaped charge jet will be seriously weakened.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
