Bolton analysis is one of the analyzes used in determining tooth size discrepancies, the ratio of size of mesiodistal teeth is very important in determining orthodontic treatment plans so that good occlusion can be achieved as a result of treatment. The aim of this study is to find out the width of mesiodistal teeth crowded with Bolton's analysis of Balinese men and women. This des-criptive research method using purposive sampling technique, used 40 models study samples of male and female from Balinese patients at the Mahasaraswati Denpasar University Dental Hospital. The largest contour of mesial to distal dimension of the tooth measured parallel to the occlusal plane. The results obtained were anterior ratios and the overall analysis of Bolton in the Balinese tribe. The anterior ratio of the Balinese men and women was obtained at 79.55%±3.40 and 61.57%±5.32. The overall ratio of Balinese men and women was obtained at 91.66%±2.57 and 102.50%±5.26. It was concluded that Bolton's anterior ra-tio and Bolton's overall ratio in crowded teeth of Balinese men and women show an average value that exceeds Bolton's ideal value, so that the location of faulty teeth of the Balinese tribe can be seen in the mandible.
Propolis was one of natural antioxidant source in the flavonoid and phenolic acid form. The propolis antioxidant potential was influenced by the plant factors that grow in geographic area wherein the bees alive. The propolis biological effect was known and have been used since antiquity. This research was intended to investigate the propolis antioxidant potential originating from Java (Indonesia). The method that was used to test its antioxidant character with the total of flavonoid activity test and the total of phenol. The strength for its antioxidant was measured by DPPH IC50 test. The result was obtained that propolis antioxidant potential from Java has a very strong potency with DPPH 35,6 µg/ml. The conclusion was Apis Mellifera sp propolis from Java has a high potential to be developed. The high drug activity and propolis therapeutic effectiveness were expected to giving a positive value and contribution to dentistry practice.
Background: In removable orthodontic treatment, it is also necessary to consider the retention and stability, including the height of the palate. Objective: To determine the description of the palate height in the Balinese people with the measurement method of Camila, et al. Methods: This study used an analytic observational design with a cross sectional approach. The study was conducted in Faculty of Dentistry, Mahasaraswati University Denpasar with purposive sampling technique based on inclusion criteria. The samples were dental students of batch 2017-2019 who are Balinese. Analysis of the data through the stages of nor-mality test using Kolmogorov-Smirnov, homogeneity test using Levene test, and descriptive test using Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Palatal height index of Balinese males was an average of 38.93±6.27 and females with an average of 35.05±7.10. Based on the comparative test, it was concluded that there was no significant difference in palatal height for males and females.
