ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS COMPARATIVE OF FIBERGLASS PRODUCTION AND BASALT FIBER AbstractOften arise discussions on the use of cleaner technologies in all market segments. The manufacturing industry to be related to increasing the generation of solid waste. Currently, it takes as necessary to have a major focus in the search for sustainable development. This study aims to compare two materials, and fiberglass and basalt fiber through life cycle analysis (LCA), through the analysis of inventory and impacts. According to the data obtained it is estimated that the energy expenditure for glass fiber production is approximately 3 times larger than the basalt fiber. According to the percentage of the production of the fibers in the environmental impacts, the basalt fiber has the best positive indicators regarding fiberglass. As a preliminary analysis, the objective was achieved, showing that the impacts generated by basalt fiber are smaller the fiberglass
