The subject of the studies was the soil with introduced solutions containing 0,1% chitosan. These materials were obtained from the Institute of Chemical Fibres in L6d2 (in the form of a microcrystalline gel) and also from the Department of Food Biochemistry and Chemistry of the University of Agriculture in Lublin (in a liquid form,i.e.dissolved in acetic acid). In order to set an experiment in a growth chamber, grey brown podzolic soil formed from loesses and taken from a mechanically treated belt of black fallow was used. The soil (1000 g) was watered every 8 days with 100 ml of examined chitosan solutions per pot. Control soil was watered with sterile distilled water. Seven days after each watering, soil samples were taken for microbiological analysis. Then 25 runner bean seeds were sown into each pot. After six weeks of plants' growth the experiment was finished and the number of plants was counted, their healthiness determined and soil microbiological analysis was performed. Regardless of chitosan form introduced to the soil it stimulated the growth of bacteria and fungi, since in these experimental combinations was found a significantly higher number of microorganisms as compared with the control. A particular high increase in the number of microorganism colonies was observed with simultaneous growth of plants and the application of chitosan. A considerable increase of fungi colonies from the <i>Trichoderma</i> genus was found in the soil treated with chitosan in the form ofboth a microcrystalline gel and a liquid. The species of this genus are considered to be antagonists; it affects pathogenic fungi through competition, antibiosis and over-parasitism. An increase in colonies of saprophytic microorganisms, including antagonistic ones of <i>Bacillus</i> spp. and Pseudomonas spp. was observed in the soil treated with chitosan . On the other hand, in the soil after the growth of bean and treated watered with chitosan only few colonies of <i>Fusarium oxysporum</i> f.sp. <i>phaseoli</i>- bean pathogen were found. The healthiness of plants grown in soil treated with chitosan was significantly better as compared to the control. The populations of antagonistic microorganisms formed in the soil in these treatments probably limited the growth of pathogenic fungus.

S t r e s z c z e n i e W czasie produkcji, a następnie przechowywania, w warzywach o małym stopniu przetworzenia zachodzą procesy chemiczne i biochemiczne obniżające ich jakość. Starzenie się warzyw podczas długo-trwałego przechowywania polega na obniżeniu aktywności fizjologicznej i zdolności przystosowania do niesprzyjających warunków otoczenia. Jednym ze sposobów powodujących ograniczenie tych procesów, bez utraty właściwości użytkowych, jest pokrywanie warzyw powłokami jadalnymi. W pracy podjęto próbę określenia wpływu powlekania świeżo krojonych korzeni pietruszki warstwą chitozanu na zmiany właściwości antyoksydacyjnych wynikających m.in. ze zmian zawartości związków fenolowych, w tym flawonoidów i kwasów fenolowych. Badano też dynamikę procesów starzenia związanych z degradacją polisacharydów i dalszymi przemianami cukrów prostych, co skutkuje ubytkiem masy i zmianami zawartości suchej masy badanego warzywa. Stwierdzono wzrost aktywności antyoksydacyjnej w pietruszce pokrywanej chitozanem, wynikający ze stymulacji biosyntezy związków fenolowych, w tym kwasów fenolowych i flawonoidów. Wykazano, że pokrywanie plastrów pietruszki warstwą powłok chitozanowych wpływa na zahamowanie rozkładu polisacharydów, jak również dalszych przemian cukrów w badanych próbach, począwszy od 3. tygodnia przechowywania.Słowa kluczowe: pietruszka, powłoki chitozanowe, polifenole, aktywność antyoksydacyjna Wprowadzenie W czasie produkcji, a następnie przechowywania warzyw o małym stopniu przetworzenia zachodzi szereg procesów chemicznych i biochemicznych obniżających ich jakość. This paper investigates properties of single-and double-layer pad coatings deposited on cultivator points. The coatings were deposited by manual metal arc welding (MMA) with ESAB OK. 84.58 coated electrodes using an inverter welder, DEDRA DESi201. Tribological properties were determined with a THT 1000 tribometer. A ballon-disc friction pair was used. Experiments were performed in room temperature, with the sliding speed set equal to 0.3 m/s and two loads: 5 and 20 N. In addition, hardness was measured on the surface and in the cross section of samples by a Rockwell hardness test method (scale C). Surface roughness was measured before and after friction, and post-friction surface topography was examined under microscope. Impact strength tests of the coatings with single-and double layers of pads were performed. The tools and IT algorithms were used to collect and process the results of experimental research.

In 2003 and 2004, young 'Kordia' sweet cherry trees were sprayed with prohexadione-Ca (Pro-Ca) to control tree growth and stimulate flower bud setting. A rate of 200 mg Pro-Ca l -1 × 2 dissolved in various pH-buffered (6.0-4.5) aqueous solutions was used. Regardless of the acidity of the spray solution applied, the trees treated with Pro-Ca were characterised by reduced shoot and internode length, greater number of shoots (2003) and increased total shoot extension (2004) relative to the control. In both years, Pro-Ca applied in a pH-4.5 buffer solution contributed to an increase of flower bud clusters on current-season shoots. However, there were no significant differences among Pro-Ca/pH treatments either in the vegetative or generative characteristics studied. Two years after Pro-Ca application, no residual effects were found in the studied tree characteristics.
