Wie in der nachfolgenden Abhandlung aufgezeigt wird, ist es G.Meldolesi, Rom, gelungen, aus den Faeces von Myopathikern ein neuartiges braunes Pigment zu isolieren, das seinem Vorkommen entsprechend mit dem erhöhten Abbau des Muskelfarbstoffs in Beziehung stehen mußte. Bereits nach den ersten gemeinsam durchgeführten orientierenden Beinigungsversuchen zeigte sich, daß dieses Pigment eine außerordentliche Ähnlichkeit mit einer Substanz aufwies, die von H. Fischer 2 ) schon 1911 bei der Reduktion von Roh-Bilirubin mit Natriumamalgam als Nebenprodukt erhalten worden war und damals als "Körper II" bezeichnet wurde.Da von diesem neuen aus Myopathiker-Stuhl isolierten Farbstoff nur sehr geringe Mengen zur Verfügung standen, schien es zweckmäßig, sowohl die Reinigungsmethoden wie auch die Versuche zur Konstitutionsaulklärung an dem in etwas größerer Menge erhältlichen "Körper H" auszuführen und sie dann auf das neue Pigment zu übertragen.Schon H. Fischer und Mitarbeiter 3 ) haben sich mit dem "Körper II" beschäftigt.
