Siliciumtetraphenyl ist in flüssigem Ammoniak (20°C) praktisch unlöslich. Bei Anwesenheit von KNH2 erfolgt eine vollständige Ammonolyse. Das bei −78°C isolierte, in fl. NH3 schwer lösliche, kristalline Reaktionsprodukt hat die Zusammensetzung K2Si3N9H13(I), welche dem Dikaliumsalz des Hexamidocyclotrisilazans entspricht. Es spaltet bei Temperaturerhöhung auf 20°C NH3 ab unter Bildung von K2Si3N8H10 (II). Diese Verbindung ist bis 50°C stabil; bei höheren Temperaturen erfolgt erneute NH3‐Abspaltung, die selbst beim Erhitzen auf 320°C noch nicht der maximal möglichen Menge entspricht. II ist ein Salz mit hochmolekularem Anion, für welches ein Strukturvorschlag gemacht wird. Es ist anzunehmen, daß bei der Ammonolyse von Si(C6H5)4 als Zwischenprodukt Hexaphenyl‐cyclotrisilazan entsteht. Tatsächlich reagiert dieses in fl. NH3 mit KNH2 unter Bildung von I.
Die Ammonolyse des Tetraphenylzinns in flüssigem NH3 bei Gegenwart von KNH2 führt unter Abspaltung aller Phenylgruppen als Benzol zu Kalium‐hexa‐amido‐stannat(IV) K2[Sn(NH2)6], das mit der entsprechenden Hydroxoverbindung K2[Sn(OH)6] isotyp ist.
