For the first time pentacyclic azo dyestuff chromium(II1) and cobalt(II1) complexes with DREW-PFITZNER configuration have been produced. Comparison of their electronic spectra with those of analogous 1 : 2 complexes enables novel conclusions as to the shape of the octahedron formed by the metal-binding atoms.
AbstractThe crystal structure of binnite, Cu 12 As 4 S 13 has been refined to permit comparison with tetrahedrite Cu 12 Sb 4 Sj 3 , and to compare the results of refinement of photographically recorded data with those obtained with counter data. A disagreement index of 23.9% for a model proposed by PAULINO and NEUMAN in 1934 has been reduced to 7.2%. J. WTTENSCH, Y. TAXÉTJCHI and W. NOWACKIoccupancy of this sit© was refined and a value in excellent agreement with the results of a spectroscopic analysis was obtained. The results of refinement with the present photographically recorded data are comparable to those obtained with counter data, but the standard deviations of the parameters, bond lengths, and bond angles are approximately 50% greater.Binnite contains two varieties of copper atoms. A first type is tetrahedrally coordinated by four sulfur atoms at 2.337 Á. A second type is triangularly coordinated by two sulfur atoms at 2.258 Á and one at 2.204 Â. The arsenic atom is bonded to three sulfur atoms at 2.246 Â which form bond angles of 98° 22'. Both binnite and tetrahedrite are superstructures based on a sphalerite-like arrangement of atoms. The displacements from this idealized arrangement are generally less pronounced in binnite than in tetrahedrite. IntroductionTennantite, Cu 12 As 4 S 13 , is the arsenic end-mem...
The crystal structure of galenobismutite (PbBi2S4) has been redeter~nined in order to establish the structural relationship between this sulfosalt and berthierite (FeSb2S4).The lattice constants and the space group are: a = 11.79 _+ 0-007, b = 14.59 + 0"008, c =4-10 +_ 0.005 _~, D~,-Pnam.The structure was refined by Fourier and three-dimensional least-squares methods based on newly determined intensity data. Bismuth and lead atoms could be distinguished by comparing their coordination. The structure contains two BiS2-chains which are bound together to form composite chains Bi4S s. The present interpretation of the structure, in contrast of the previous work, shows that it is more similar to that of berthierite, but is not isostructural with it.
