Mit ionisch‐koordinativen Katalysatoren auf Basis von Titan und Aluminium wird eine Mischpolymerisation zwischen einer technischen Buten‐Fraktion und Bicyclo[2,2,1]hept‐2‐en untersucht. In Abhängigkeit von der aluminiumorganischen Komponente oder von Donatorzusätzen konnte entweder ausschließlich Isobuten bzw. mit hoher Selektivität But‐1‐en aus der Fraktion polymerisiert werden. Dabei ergaben sich niedermolekulare, nahezu doppelbindungsfreie Mischpolymerisate, die durch die Wahl entsprechender Reaktionsparameter, wie Temperatur und Monomerkonzentrationsverhältnis über die Zusammensetzung der Mischpolymerisate weitgehende Eigenschaftsvariationen zulassen.
Lineares Polyethylen wurde in Abhängigkeit von den Herstellungsbedingungen (Temperaturbereich 253 K bis 323 K, Monomerkonzentration 0,025 M bis 0,3 M) reaktionskinetisch und hinsichtlich der Polymerisationsprodukte strukturanalytisch (Röntgenweitwinkel‐ und DSC‐Methoden) untersucht. Mit steigender Herstellungstemperatur verringert sich der Verzweigungsgrad und der kristalline Anteil wird größer. Neben der orthorhombischen Kristallphase fanden wir in Abhängigkeit von den Herstellungsbedingungen einen beträchtlichen Anteil von monoklinem Polyethylen, welches auch nach dem Schmelzen, besonders bei schneller Abkühlung auftritt. Die orthorhombische Modifikation zeigte dabei eine geringe Vergrößerung der Gitterparameter, größere Kristallite bei kleinerer Kristallinität und eine geringe Ausheilung von Gitterstörungen.
Mittels kinetischer Untersuchungen Bestimmung der effektiven Aktivierungsenergien (EAeff) und der individuellen Geschwindigkeitskonstanten (IRC) sowie 1H‐NMR‐spektroskopischer Sequenzanalyse) wurde der Mechanismus der vinylanalogen komplex‐koordinativen Bicyclo[2,2,1] hept‐2‐en‐Ethylen‐Copolymerisation untersucht. Ein Kettenwachstumsmodell für die Copolymerisation ds sterisch anspruchsvollen und unter hoher Ringspannung stehenden Bicyclo‐[2,2,1]hept‐2‐en mit Ethylen wurde durch die Sequenzanalyse und die (EAeff bestätigt und durch die IRC im niedrigen Temperaturbereich weiter bekräftigt.
Die Abhängigkeit der Reaktionsordnungen und der Geschwindigkeitskonstanten vom Comonomerkonzentrationsverhältnis, der Temperatur, der Katalysatorkonzentration und vom Lösungsmittel wurde bei der ZIEGLER‐NATTA‐Copolymerisation von Bicyclo[2,2,1]hept‐2‐en mit Ethylen untersucht. Die Copolymerisation kann dem Abklingtyp zugeordnet werden. Die experimentellen kinetischen Daten stützen das von uns früher vorgeschalgene Kettenwachstumsmodell, wonach die alternierende Schrittfolge stark dominiert.
