Angular-correlation measurements were made on 12 direct cascades and 5 skip cascades in Ba. Levels in +Ba were populated from the 64-sec P decay of Cs, which was populated from the decay of mass-separated ' Xe. The most intense transitions were measured in coincidence with the first-excited state-to-ground-state transition in even-even Ba. Definite spin assignments were made for eight levels and tentative spin assignments for five levels. Values are given for the angular-correlation coefficients, and multipolarity mixing ratios are listed where applicable. Systematics for N =84 isotones are discussed in light of assignments made for Ba. RADIOACTIVITY~4 0Cs {from~4 0Xe decay); measured y-Y{&}. OBa deduced J, r. I Mass-separated Xe activity.
A total of 142 y rays were observed in the decay of the 45and 85-sec isomers of " I using an on-line isotope separator system. Of these, 116 were placed in a level scheme for " Xe consisting of 50 excited levels up to 6624 keV using results from Ge(Li) y singles and yy-coincidence measurements. Our results are compared with results from earlier decay and reaction experiments, and the levels below 2.8 MeV are compared with predictions of recent shell-model calculations. Strong P population was observed to states above 3.5 MeV which are interpreted as neutron particle-hole states. RADIOACTIUITY 36I [from 3 U(n, f)]; measured Ey Iy p~coin, Ge(Li) detectors; 3 Xe deduced levels, J, n, lpgf t. Mass-separated 3 I activity.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
