Resumo: O Concílio Vaticano II teve lugar na basílica Vaticana entre 1962 e 1965, tendo sido realizado em quatro sessões, e foi um evento de grande impacto dentro da Igreja Católica Apostólica Romana, uma vez que mudou significativamente os rumos do catolicismo no Século XX. Por isso, esse artigo pretende abordar não somente as reformas conciliares, mas o contexto histórico e ideológico que o cercou, e de que forma o clero progressista tornou possível reformas até então impensadas. Diante do embate entre progressistas e conservadores, o Vaticano II mudou a forma da Igreja se relacionar com o mundo e consigo mesma, e por isso, até hoje é um evento que precisa de análise, pois está longe de se chegar a um consenso. Abstract:The 2 th Vatican Council was in the basilica among 1962 and 1965, in four sessions, becoming an great event inside the Catholican Church, once it changed significantly the journey of Catholicism in the 20 th century. Therefore, this article intends to analysis not only the council reforms, because the main idea is to approach the historical and ideological contexts that surrounds it, and the way that progressive clergy made possible some reforms until that time unthought. Even now, it's far from a consensual way.
Diante das grandes transformações ocorridas no século XX, que colocaram em xeque o modelo eurocêntrico imperialista, colonialista e capitalista, o Papa João XXIII convocou o Concílio Vaticano II, considerado um marco na história da Igreja Católica devido às grandes mudanças que provocou dentro e fora da instituição. Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste estudo foi analisar os reflexos deste concílio na Igreja e na sociedade moderna. O estudo foi realizado por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica, com abordagem qualitativa, apresentando informações buscadas em livros, artigos e demais materiais constantes em bases de dados cientificas, considerando os trabalhos disponíveis na íntegra, sem limitação de data ou idioma.
Artigo trata do jornal “Catolicismo” e sua linha editorial de combate antimoderno, antirrevolucionário e anti-comunista na década de 1960. A pesquisa foi feita a partir da análise de seu conteúdo que identificaram matrizes do pensamento reacionário do catolicismo conservador brasileiro do período. Ele contou com a liderança de três principais dos principais atores do pensamento e prática desse setor do catolicismo: Dom Antônio de Castro Mayer (1904-1991), Dom Geraldo de Proença Sigaud (1909-1999) e Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira (1908-1995). Privilegiamos sua ação contra o comunismo e contra os setores de esquerda do catolicismo do período.
