Abstract. Predicting point and nonpoint source runoff of dissolved and suspended materials into their receiving streams is important to protecting water quality. Therefore, it is important to monitoring the condition of river water quality. The purpose of this study is to predict water quality in small streams using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The study focuses on small stream in tributary of Brantas River. The variables of interest are dissolved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), pH and temperature (T). To validate the performance of the trained ANN, it was applied to an unseen data set from a station in the region. The result show that the prediction of DO is 6.03 mg/litre, pH is 6,47 mg/litre and temperature is 25.18°. With the relatively error was 15.63%, 12.64% and 14.12% respectively. It was finally concluded that ANN models are capable of simulating the water quality parameters.
Abstract. In Indonesia, water is public goods so it is necessary to control water allocation. Inequity of water allocation between water users is expanding largely, including irrigation as the largest user, while the density of headworks in the river are getting higher. Considering that water is limited, the practice of irrigation water allocation needs to be refined, from the traditional equity to volumetric equity. MEQAA (Model Equalisasi Alokasi Air/Equalization Model of Water Allocation) plays a role in determining water sharing between headworks in order to meet the maximum-equal K-factor in river. MEQAA-Generic is a calculation machine with: analog-deterministic dynamic model; network equation according to mass balance and linear optimization; independent-based system; sustainability-efficiency-equity constraints; Ms. Excel-VBA. The inputs are: scheme system, local inflow, and irrigation demand. The outputs are: K-factor, release and ecosystem quote. The model performance is identified by comparing the output to the class of K-factor based on treatment of water distribution. The model test is performed in an uncontrolled and complicated system in Kukusan Tanggek watershed with 24 headworks in Lombok river basin. As long as it is adequate for water sharing, MEQAA-G can always produce maximum-equal K-factor. The output model is used to operation control.
Water distribution structure is the main distribution facility and has been an important part in the operation system of irrigation networks. Numbak configuration lay the secondary water distribution structure, tertiary water tapping structure, and control structures in a parallel position, so it is suitable to be applied for the proportional system. This type of water distribution structure has been recommended in Irrigation Planning Criteria-04 (revision 2013) ABSTRAKBangunan bagi merupakan sarana pendistribusian air yang utama dan menjadi bagian penting pada sistem operasi jaringan irigasi.
As a type of gate that is used to control the water level upstream, sluice gate is the gate with simple shape and outstanding ability to flush the sediment. The operation of the gate is considered an important process. The up and down movement of the gate would affect the velocity and cause local scour as the result of fluctuating rate. This research aims to assess the effects of discharge and gate-opening height variations, as well as the type of bedchannel material, on the change of depth of scour (d s ). The research was conducted of open channel flow model with a sluice gate able to up and down movement. The discharges used in the research were 9 types ranging from 1.0 to 5.0 dm . Calculated coefficient of determination of the relationship between two types of channel-bed material and the depth of scour was R 2 = 0.946. Consequently, it can be concluded that the equation can be applied on both types of bed-channel material.
Flow conditions on overflow systems can result in construction failure, mainly due to the high flow energy. Stilling basin at downstream of the spillway is useful for reducing flow energy. It can reduce the destructive force of water flow. Controlling the hydraulic jump is an important part that includes the jump’s energy, length, and height. The physical hydraulic model was carried out with several series, by making a series of bottom lowering of horizontal and USBR II stilling basin. The experimental study is expected to represent flow behavior in the overflow system regarding flow conditions and energy dissipation. Based on the analytical calculation of flow velocity, the amount of flow energy that occurs at each control point is calculated. The control points are the starting point of the spillway, the chute way toe, and flow depth after the hydraulic jump. The energy loss can be calculated for each control point, while the efficiency of energy dissipation on stilling basin is calculated at the downstream flow depth after the hydraulic jump. Velocity calculated by dividing discharge per unit width by water depth which is based on the flow depth measurement data in the hydraulic model.
