PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Contêiner, moradia, baixa renda, deficiência habitacional.ABSTRACT: By 2016, about 13.4 million people in Brazil lived in conditions of extreme poverty. In the same year, about R$ 2 billion were invested in housing, this reality is in line with the growth of the use of containers in construction. Thus, the article aims to analyze the feasibility of using containers as housing for low income people, considering the disposal of the container after its useful life, the low cost of the material and the Brazilian housing deficit. The research points out that the material is suitable for residential use because, in addition to being a quick and sustainable construction, the cost of a container home is lower than a conventional home. In this way, the article will show the possibility of reuse of container, material that would be discarded, for housing purposes and highlight, from a SWOT analysis, the strengths of this type of construction.
