The aim of this article was to analyze the relationship between the informational content of the key audit matters (KAMs) reported in the Independent Audit Report (IAR) and financial analysts’ forecasts for the companies listed on the B3 S.A. - Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão (B3). The research that has investigated the relevance of KAMs has not analyzed the incremental information about the audited firm, from the independent auditor’s viewpoint, that can affect financial analysts’ forecasts. The findings of this research reveal that the KAMs reported present relevant informational content about the audited firm for financial analysts, thus improving the quality of their forecasts. In addition, it was observed in the quantile analysis that the KAMs contribute to the fine tuning of analysts’ forecasts. The debate on the auditor-analyst relationship is also widened, specifically regarding the utility of KAMs for financial analysts, in terms of them considering using this information in their projections for the analyzed companies, thus reinforcing the search for their improvement by the regulator. The analysis was conducted based on generalized least squares (GLS) and quantile regressions covering 137 non-financial companies, using data from (quarterly and annual) analysts’ forecasts available from Thomson Reuters Eikon® and financial information from Economatica®. In general, the quantity and content of the items reported as KAMs were revealed to be significant in relation to the analysts’ earnings per share forecasts and to their forecasting error, revealing a reduction in asymmetry. Thus, the higher the informational value of the KAMs, the better the quality of that information is, contributing to forming an earnings forecast consensus and minimizing the error in the financial analysts’ estimates. In addition, it was observed that the disclosure of KAMs has no immediate reflection in the earnings forecast in the quarter following their disclosure, with their informational content being diluted over the following financial period, impacting the annual earnings forecast.

Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar o grau de aderência aos requisitos de transparência e acesso à informação nos portais eletrônicos das empresas estatais pertencentes aos governos dos estados do Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Paraná (PR) e Santa Catarina (SC). A partir de uma pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva e documental, foi possível evidenciar que as estatais do PR atingiram 76% de aderência à transparência, seguida pelas estatais do RS e de SC, com 64% e 62%, respectivamente. Ainda, 68% da amostra observa as exigências requeridas para os sítios eletrônicos, sendo classificadas como de médio grau de aderência. No entanto, ainda não há aderência plena, nem mesmo alto grau de aderência para todos os indicadores analisados, demonstrando que a fiscalização dos portais eletrônicos precisa ser mais efetiva.

O presente estudo teve por objetivo analisar como a volatilidade dos resultados anuais das companhias abertas brasileiras é influenciada pela oscilação do preço das commodities agrícolas. A amostra é composta por 26 companhias abertas com ações negociadas na Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão [B]³ que apresentavam saldo na conta de Ativos Biológicos, tanto no curto quanto no longo prazos. Os dados, analisados ao longo de nove anos (2010 a 2018), foram agrupados em categorias e tratados estatisticamente, por meio de dados em painel com série temporal empilhada. O preço de algumas commodities - como algodão, suínos, aves e trigo – apresentam influência sobre a volatilidade dos resultados anuais das companhias, de modo que sua volatilidade se mostra significativamente atrelada à avaliação mais acurada do valor da empresa. Assim, o estudo contribui para a sinalização dos preços das commodities agrícolas ao mercado e sua influência na volatilidade dos lucros, de modo a otimizar a tomada de decisão de investidores e gestores, evitando perdas e auxiliando no desenvolvimento de estratégias quantitativas para a rentabilidade de seus ativos.

Objetivo: O objetivo do estudo é identificar a percepção dos discentes do curso de Ciências Contábeis (Grupo 1) e da Especialização em Perícia e Auditoria (Grupo 2) da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) acerca do ensino e do conteúdo de auditoria para a preparação e inserção no mercado de trabalho. Metodologia: Pesquisa quantitativa, descritiva e de levantamento por meio da aplicação de questionário (questões abertas e fechadas) aos alunos dos dois cursos, buscando identificar as características dos grupos e sua compreensão quanto aos métodos de ensino e aprendizagem da disciplina de auditoria para o mercado de trabalho. Resultados: Verificou-se que a maioria dos dois grupos se encontra no mercado de trabalho, e que os atuantes em auditoria pretendem permanecer na área. Quanto às práticas pedagógicas, nos dois grupos destacou-se: “Aula Expositiva”; “Discussões em Sala de Aula”; “Resoluções de Exercícios”; e “Estudos de Caso”. Já, os aspectos apontados que carecem de aprofundamento no Grupo 1 são: “Normas Brasileiras de Contabilidade”, “Planejamento da Auditoria”, e “Práticas na detecção de fraudes”, e no Grupo 2 foram: “Legislação Aplicável à Auditoria Contábil”, “Planejamento da Auditoria” e “Execução dos trabalhos de auditoria”. Em relação à percepção sobre a suficiência do conteúdo da disciplina para desempenho da função, 37% do Grupo 1 e 46,7% do Grupo 2 acreditam que é insuficiente e se preocupam com o impacto disso no desenvolvimento das atividades no mercado de trabalho. Ainda, como motivação para estudar auditoria, os discentes alegam que tal conhecimento é indispensável para o bom desempenho da profissão, a fim de ter domínio do conteúdo sobre a prática contábil em relação à legislação e normas de auditoria. Contribuições do Estudo: Os resultados auxiliam os responsáveis dos cursos a propor melhorias no desenvolvimento da disciplina, no curso e, consequentemente, do profissional contábil.

Este caso permite reflexão sobre tomada de decisões em empresas com base em seu planejamento estratégico e artefatos gerenciais frente ao cenário de crise pandêmica do novo Coronavírus (COVID-19). Neste caso aborda-se a Consultoria Ltda, microempresa do ramo de consultoria contábil, tributária e de auditoria, que está com dificuldades de acompanhar/implementar controles gerenciais e tem planos estratégicos indefinidos, e precisa atender a demanda, ainda maior, de seus clientes em meio ao cenário de crise advinda da pandemia. Os sócios se viram sobrecarregados entre rotinas técnicas e administrativas, cogitando a possibilidade de contratar um(a) colaborador(a) para auxiliar nos controles administrativos e financeiros. Entretanto, com as incertezas do mercado e sobre a volta ao trabalho nas instalações da empresa, os sócios se deparam com um dilema: “Devemos contratar ou não um(a) novo (a) colaborador(a) agora? Caso se contrate, como solucionar o espaço físico na sede = da empresa?”. As informações são provenientes de adaptações da realidade, obtidas por meio de entrevistas, pesquisa documental e observação em reuniões e encontros com os sócios. Este caso de ensino é destinado ao estudo da tomada de decisão alicerçada no planejamento estratégico e nas ferramentas gerenciais frente a cenários de incertezas financeiras ou não, em prol de discutir e repensar sobre gargalos de produção e desenvolvimento de uma microempresa. Seu uso em sala de aula pode ocorrer por meio de gamificação, dividindo a turma em pequenas equipes.

Purpose: This study aims to identify Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) Accounting Sciences (Group 1) and Specialization in Skills and Auditing (Group 2) students’ perception regarding teaching and content of auditing for preparation and insertion into the job market. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive and survey research through a questionary application (open and closed questions) to students of the two courses, seeking to identify the groups’ characteristics and their understanding concerning teaching and learning methods from the audit discipline for the labor market. Results: It was verified that the majority of the two groups are in the labor market and that auditors intend to remain in this work area. As for the pedagogical practices, in the two groups stood out: "Exhibition Classroom"; "Classroom Discussions"; "Resolutions of Exercises"; and "Case Studies". Group 1 pointed out the aspects that need to be deepened: "Brazilian Accounting Standards", "Audit Planning", and "Practices in fraud detection", and for Group 2 these aspects are: "Legislation Applicable to Accounting Audit", "Audit Planning" and "Audit Execution". In relation to the sufficiency perception of discipline content to perform the function, 37% of Group 1 and 46.7% of Group 2 believe that it is insufficient and they are concerned with the impact on the activities’ development in the labor market. Still, as a motivation to study auditing, students claim that such knowledge is indispensable for the profession good performance in order to master accounting practice content in regard to legislation and auditing standards. Contributions of the Study: The results help courses’ responsible to propose improvements for course development, for the course itself and, consequently, for accounting professional.

Objective: to analyze how the economic context affects the relationship between corporate governance and stock market volatility of Brazilian public companies listed on B3 S.A. - Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão (B3), from 2010 to 2018.Method: based on quantitative, descriptive, and documentary research, the stock market volatility on an annual basis was used as a metric for volatility (dependent variable); internal mechanisms (ownership and control structure, number of members of the administrative and fiscal council) and external mechanisms (B3 governance levels, American Depositary Receipt, and free float) such as corporate governance proxies (independent variable of interest); and control variables (Gross Domestic Product - GDP and others).Originality/Relevance: there is no consensus regarding the way that corporate governance practices affect stock market volatility, when considering the economic context in which the country finds itself, given that different proxies can cause different effects before the market (Li et al., 2013; Litov et al., 2006).Results: it was found that, in general, internal mechanisms have a significant influence in relation to stock market volatility only when analyzed together with the variation in GDP. The external mechanisms, on the other hand, did not show significant influence in relation to the stock market volatility.Theoretical / Methodological Contributions: the discussion about the interaction of corporate governance practices with the volatility in the stock market prices of Brazilian companies is broadened, as well as the different approaches to decision-making when analyzing the internal and external mechanisms of corporate governance in the Brazilian economic contex.
